Ontario’s schools are getting more violent. The cause is clear and so are the solutions. In The Walrus, President @marthahradowy speaks to what’s really happening inside our schools: “I’ve heard the Minister of Education indicate that a lot of the reforms he’s making in terms of governance are to redirect resources back into the classroom. Well, he’s been saying that for six months now, and we’ve not seen any money being redirected back into the classroom to get the kids the help they need.” Violence is rising. Supports are not. Ontario Education Minister Paul Calandra is refusing to apologize for banning political views at graduation ceremonies. No climate justice. No Indigenous rights. No anti-racism. Just “celebrate” in silence while he polices what our kids can hear. This isn’t neutrality it’s censorship. Graduations belong to students, not Doug Ford’s government.

Instead of giving elementary schools appropriate funding in Ontario, teachers will be given $750.00 for schools supplies?? So with their classroom numbers exploding, less per student than ever, I guess Ford hopes teachers will keep kids busy with colouring ?? Encouraging parents to mortgage their homes for private school fees.
