@NicholasGoldin7 @AVindman The company failed, it's leadership's fault, not a politician. An argument can be made that the war with Iran pushed Spirit over the edge, but a tough industry and mismanagement of the company killed it. Mergers don't save jobs, JetBlue would have cut those jobs anyway.

@AVindman Alex as you know war is never a good idea. But the failures were on Mayor Pete and Elizabeth Warren. Preventing a Jet Blue Spirit Merger so I would keep quiet on this one.

Spirit Airlines employs thousands of Floridians and its collapse lands squarely on Washington’s failures. The Biden Administration blocked the JetBlue merger, and the Iran war has sent fuel prices skyrocketing. Now 17,000 workers are losing their jobs and families have fewer choices and higher fares. Florida is screaming for help and being ignored.

@Ganglosaxonnne It's not out yet, they're tracking pre-sale tickets. The shame is, it's probably going to a perfectly fine movie, not special, just fun and harmless. Better than Solo (which I liked), but tank worse than Solo.

@kazadorI @hmanwalker @GodCloseMyA10 @CrownedCaribou "worst bread?? sara lee is a missive company and their bread is ubiquitous in supermarkets" Mass produced often equals low quality as demonstrated here. Go to a real Bakery. Buy corporate bread, get corporate crap. You should know better.

@BradRTorgersen @TwoRulesOfWar The Ukrainians will sink it before the US ever has to worry about it. Was there ever a naval power that lost more ships to a rival that has no navy than Russia?

@sane_defaults @esrtweet @justalexoki This right here. I'm an American and I hang dry a ton of stuff. I have high quality stuff I want to extend the life on or some memorabilia clothing from Marathons or Ironman races I've completed that I want to preserve for as long as possible.

@esrtweet @justalexoki For many in Europe, including those who own tumble dryers, the primary reason for avoiding their use is to extend the lifespan of high quality clothes into decades. This applies even more so to wool, silk, and bespoke clothing

@BeautifulSOAB @uniquemoviemom She lost vs Anakin/Vader every time. She lost against Baylan Skoll. She's gotten beaten up a ton of other times. Ahsoka took her lumps to get good and still lost a fight in her own show.

@CreatorsOfChaos @DungeonNoir "Today we have the tech, but we lost that raw, punk edge of fighting a system that felt like an immovable god." Those were the wages-slaves in Shadowrun. Like today, in SR the people gave into their tech overlords. I feel Corps vs Individual aspect in SR really holds up today

Playing this in the late 90s, I felt that exact friction. Shadowrun isn't about the future we got; it's about the future the 80s were terrified of. That 'mysterious box' energy for computers is what created the Netrunner mythos, it wasn't just code, it was digital sorcery. Today we have the tech, but we lost that raw, punk edge of fighting a system that felt like an immovable god. It’s a setting built on the 'anxiety of the unknown,' and that’s why it still resonates.

Let’s clear something up about Shadowrun. Not the lore, the setting. The lore? That’s another mess entirely, often lacking structure, pacing, or satisfying resolution. The setting sits roughly between the 2050s and 2080s, but it’s filtered through the lens of the 1980s. That last part matters. If you didn’t live through, or deeply understand, the cultural mindset of the ’80s, it’s easy to miss what makes Shadowrun tick. This was a time when computers weren’t everywhere. They were tools for academics, the military, and wealthy tech obsessives. To most people, they were mysterious boxes. It was also an era defined by the presence of a looming “enemy nation,” a geopolitical threat used to justify secrecy, control, and morally questionable actions by those in power. Economically, the late ’80s rode the tail end of a boom. New technology hit the market constantly, often at absurd prices. Innovation felt relentless, but it was tied tightly to aggressive, fast-moving capitalism. Socially, things were harsher. Racism and violence were more visible and more normalized. Entire neighborhoods were effectively off-limits depending on who you were. Violent crime rates were significantly higher—New York City alone saw over 2,200 murders in 1980, compared to 305 in 2025. Culturally, it was a decade of contradiction. Rebellion surged, punk, heavy metal, hip-hop, and rap all took root and grew teeth. At the same time, media pushed polished, idealized versions of family life, smoothing over the cracks. You could have a lighthearted comedy casually referencing something like “stealing plutonium from the Libyans,” and no one blinked. That’s the DNA of Shadowrun: a futuristic world built not just from technology and magic, but from the anxieties, contradictions, and raw edges of the 1980s.

So your failure to rebut the point that Trump burned down any trust before this war means you concede the point. Advanced consultations would have been pointless because of years of incompetent diplomacy. You ignore the larger picture.

On Easter morning, this is what President Trump posted. Everyone in his administration that claims to be a Christian needs to fall on their knees and beg forgiveness from God and stop worshipping the President and intervene in Trump’s madness. I know all of you and him and he has gone insane, and all of you are complicit. I’m not defending Iran but let’s be honest about all of this. The Strait is closed because the US and Israel started the unprovoked war against Iran based on the same nuclear lies they’ve been telling for decades, that any moment Iran would develop a nuclear weapon. You know who has nuclear weapons? Israel. They are more than capable of defending themselves without the US having to fight their wars, kill innocent people and children, and pay for it. Trump threatening to bomb power plants and bridges hurts the Iranian people, the very people Trump claimed he was freeing. On Easter, of all days, we as Christians should be reminded that the son of God died and rose from the grave so that we can be forgiven once and for all of our sins. Jesus commanded us to love one another and forgive one another. Even our enemies. Our President is not a Christian and his words and actions should not be supported by Christians. Christians in the administration should be pursuing peace. Urging the President to make peace. Not escalating war that is hurting people. This NOT what we promised the American people when they overwhelmingly voted in 2024, I know, I was there more than most. This is not making America great again, this is evil.

@davepl1968 That specific launch was watched in schools across the country because of Christa McAuliffe. I wouldn't be surprised if more kids watched that launch than adults. It was a big deal at the time before the explosion.

99.9% of people who "experienced" the Challenger disaster saw it on replay and now remember it as live. Almost NO ONE was watching. Everyone thinks they were. It's a fascinating collective false memory.
Jeremy London@SirJeremyLondon

Anyone who experienced the Space Shuttle Challenger explosion, like I did, is probably a bit hesitant to get too excited about the Artemis II launch today. I truly hope our children don’t have to experience such tragedy. May the Universe welcome them and return them safely home 🙏

One of the most fascinating aspects of what the presidency is now...able to take us to war on the whims of a single person…is that almost no one defends the overall idea. Everyone seems to understand it's a bad long term change to the system. Yet here we are.
