@rbarbosa91 My program had similar structure (Virginia Mason, Seattle). It certainly implored one to thoroughly prepare for each week.

My program did M&M where the Resident presented the service, and there was a list of all of the surgical cases from the service that week. Anyone in the room could ask the junior any question or detail about any of the cases from the week. Rigorous, but very educational. 🧐😬

Save #MandM! It is our most important educational conference!!! Open self critique, ethical accountability, brutal intellectual honesty and a willingness to be wrong/change practice builds resilience and makes better doctors. Great article and worth a read @JAMASurgery

We justifiably get upset at academics like Sacks when they commit fraud, because we expect better of them. But I think examples like this are just the tip of the misinformation iceberg, which extends far beyond academia. #RedPenReviews

@radfugee I’ve described LLM/AI to others as something akin to “fancy autocorrect.” Idk, perhaps I’m missing something.

@radfugee The current AI boom/fanfare, I would venture to guess, will likely fizzle out. There is something with the current LLM technology that frankly doesn’t capture how we think. Which should be quite a rational leap given our understanding of consciousness etc.

It took years to recognize the phenomenon of pseudo-meetings and pseudocommittees. In these meetings, there is almost no hope of real input, as the decisions have already been made. In reality, your purpose is to fill the chairs so that 'the process' appears more legitimate.

@SWexner @AmCollSurgeons Actually I call Bull 💩on robotic appendectomy. Lap appendectomy is a highly successful procedure, associated with a short length of stay and low complication rate. Additional costs of over $3000 per case for robotic surgery are not justified.

Here's a little test. I think I already know how this will turn out...but we'll see. As many others have been, I've also been getting crunched by X. If you can see this...give me a "like" and comment with any symbol or emoticon you choose.

“Perhaps the genius of ultra running is its supreme lack of utility. It makes no sense in a world of space ships and supercomputers to run vast distances on foot. There is no money in it and no fame, frequently not even the approval of peers. But as poets, apostles and philosophers have insisted from the dawn of time, there is more to life than logic and common sense. The ultra runners know this instinctively. And they know something else that is lost on the sedentary. They understand, perhaps better than anyone, that the doors to the spirit will swing open with physical effort. In running such long and taxing distances they answer a call from the deepest realms of their being — a call that asks who they are.” — David Blaikie #motivation #quotes #running #trailrunning #mentality

@Alan_Couzens Wonderful. What’s you opinion on endurance athletics and risk for atrial fibrillation?

A good question from Sam... Some things I like for endurance athletes when it comes to 🏋️... 1/ Large muscle, integrated, movements over a full range of motion in many planes. The strength work offers us a great way to work planes and ranges of motion that we *don't* get to access with swim/bike/run. In this way, it promotes mobility and muscle balance. Squats, lunges, rows, presses over a full range of motion in all planes. As much standing/unsupported as possible to force the stabilizers to work. This includes a good dose of single leg & single arm work. 2/ Most of the work devoted to relatively high reps, w/ relatively little rest Even in strength, we want to keep the aerobic demand up. Doing things like super-setting 2 big muscle movements together (e.g. a barbell squat straight into a pull up) with minimal rest between the 2 facilitates this. For endurance athletes, large muscles with no mitochondria are just dead weight. 3/ A mix of modalities Bodyweight work (for the upper body) is great. To me, there is nothing more "functional" than being able to manipulate your body. I love kettlebells as well - swings & cleans with a kettlebell are a great way to develop power in a safe and low impact manner. Bands and cables add the ability to change the plane that you're working and put more of an emphasis on stabilizers e.g. doing a standing cable press vs a bench press. #### By focusing on the above, we can cover a lot of objectives and get a lot of good, general, bang for the buck out of relatively short strength sessions.

@Alan_Couzens Thanks @Alan_Couzens do you have suggestions of what to do in those 30 min sessions for a cyclist/runner please?
