Dear Democrats, I’m Black and I know how to get an ID. I come from a rough background and the foster care system and even dealing with that, I still figured it out. So don’t use the hardships some Black people face as an excuse to say they don’t know how to get an ID — because I’m living proof that’s not true. Even as a teenager, I knew what I had to do. I knew I needed an ID to drive, so I got my permit, then my license. When I turned 21, I couldn’t wait to update my ID so it showed I was 21 and over. I even knew how to go get it updated. I figured it out, just like millions of Americans do every day. So now that I vote, I know I need an ID for that too. Don’t tell me that because I’m Black, I don’t know how to get an ID or vote. I think it’s racist to assume Black people don’t know how to get an ID or know how to vote.
