Dipping back into FF for a sec to start de-placeholderifying some of the vehicles like the Sharpshooter Also gotta find a way to unwrap for generic tileable camo textures better

@Vivid__VFX Looks great, though I do think more prominant grip dot patterns are important to its character

AVPRO ART MEGA THREAD By 2000, now defunct British aerospace company Avpro had produced a wealth of art depicting futuristic naval and aerospace concepts.

@tmsii_art If you're still fiddling with this, try applying the squared off snout of the left and placing it on right. I also think adding the 5 indented dots would be cool to see

@TheConnorDawn I had a similar view early on - I prefered the idea of the forerunners just being some aliens - its a big universe. I've since come around to the thematic significance of forunners-as-humans and think its enrichment of the story is worth it's tropey-ness.

@nikos_on_yt I spent a lot of time researching Forerunner design language and what newer Halo games get right/wrong. Main thing: It is metal but should behave more like stone in light. This means increasing roughness, avoid edgewear, kill specular and sheen, and keep normal details shallow.

@FoggyDay2049 Irritating skeumorphic products adopt the look but not the function of what they are imitating. In photography the look *is* the function - it doesn't suggest something (flame, functional storage) that isn't actually there, it actually delivers (picture that looks like *that*)

I hate skeumorphic product designs like the LED tea candles or fake drawers on a cheap cabinet. Why do we do that? Yet I love that pics from the most technically superior cameras today are edited to emulate old film aesthetic. Is that dishonest in the same way? Or a genuine good?

@jondelarroz Shilling aside, this cover art looks like shit man. I never understand why people settle for the most generic imagery imaginable and think that's gonna make someone get excited to be drawn into the world you have (ostensibly) created.

Jon Del Arroz | Sci-Fi And Fantasy
Starfleet Academy did NOT get Avery Brooks back to do the cameo voice-over at the end of the latest episode. Brooks recorded a spoken word jazz album years ago, and they extracted the line and put it in. It gives the fans the illusion he came back to endorse the show, but like everything else in modern Star Trek, it's fake and gay.
