.@Axios White House reporter Marc Caputo (@MarcACaputo) discusses what Pres. Trump's initial objectives were for the Iran war, and how those goals may have shifted in the days following initial strikes. "When you look at the broader context of what Trump is trying to do, he's sort of laser-focused – or should I say, the military is laser-focused – on those [initial objectives.] But, as he talked about an excursion, there are different things that crop up in war that change the tactical reality of the battlefront … one is the Straight of Hormuz, the other is Kharg Island."

Like many other musicians, @Theavettbros bassist Bob Crawford took up a new hobby while touring the country. But his way to fill time on the road yielded something slightly different than his peers – he authored a book on John Quincy Adams' life post-presidency. "On the road, there's a lot of downtime. … I love history, I've always loved history, and I used that time to research and I wrote a book on John Quincy Adams."

.@WashInstitute research director Dana Stroul discusses the future of the Iranian regime after Israel announced their military killed top Iranian security official Ali Larijani last night. "As the ranks of the senior leaders are thinned out … what we're likely to see is more hard line people without these voices who have experience engaging with the West."

Florida caller: "America is basically self-sufficient with oil… so why is America being charged full price for oil?" @CSIS Global energy expert @ClaySeigel: "We are far from completely independent. We still import several million barrels per day of oil from other countries. … We're somewhat indemnified from these global shocks, at least for a short period of time."

.@WSJ political reporter Ken Thomas (@KthomasDC) analyzes Bill and Hillary Clinton's depositions and their alleged connections with Jeffrey Epstein, saying the public learned "fairly limited" new information. "It was really a tense hearing. [Hillary] really did not feel like she could add much to the committee's understanding… On the Bill Clinton side of things, I think there was a lot more material to work though. … The thing that [Bill] Clinton said throughout is that there was nothing that he saw or learned that would have indicated that Epstein was involved in any of this malfeasance."

Ahead of today's primary election, politics reporter with @semafor David Weigel (@daveweigel) takes a look at the three GOP Senate candidates in Texas – none of whom are endorsed by President Trump. "Republicans have spent more money in this Senate race than any to defend John Cornyn. …They want to win, but what is more likely is they will get a runoff between Cornyn and [Ken] Paxton. Would Trump weigh in? This is a factor throughout every Texas race we're talking about that's competitive."

.@CrisisGroup's Ali Vaez on potential outcomes of the current war in Iran: "I don't see the possibility of a transition to any kind of Jeffersonian democracy. The likelier scenario is some of the remnants of the regime would try to reach out to the Trump administration and end up with a Venezuela type of scenario in which they would agree to subjugate themselves to the United States in order to preserve power, or that Iran would descend into chaos and civil strife."

.@TaxFoundation's Alex Durante (@alex_durante_) reacts to Pres. Trump's plan to work around the Supreme Court ruling against his power to impose tariffs. "The President is just simply mistaken when he says [the tariffs] are paid by foreigners. …When you look at the evidence, what it shows is that the U.S. importer is bearing, at a minimum, 90% of the tariffs."

.@ProPublica's Perla Trevizo (@Perla_Trevizo) on what she's seen working with the @TexasTribune covering immigration and deportation: "As you see less detentions of people crossing the border – because you have less people crossing – you start to see an increase in detentions of people from the interior of the country. ...Generally speaking, you're seeing people with more ties in the U.S., people with fewer crimes or convictions, whose crime is basically immigration violations."

.@ReaganInstitute Director @RogerZakheim says Iran would be "better off" with a new regime as he discusses the Trump administration's recent policy moves toward the Middle Easten nation. "I think the Iranian people want a new regime, and I think President Trump at times said he would stand with those hopes of the Iranian people… There are people in Iran and outside of Iran – Iranians – that want to see freedom. They want to see this revolutionary regime come to an end and be replaced with something that allows the people of Iran to experience the freedom that they deserve."

Former Trump administration economic policy official @VanceGinn says he "understands the fear" surrounding AI, but calls himself an "optimist" about the future of AI in the economy. "I think education is going to be reformed by AI and allow for there to be better education tools that can help meet the needs of unique students… Healthcare and AI is another area where you can get multiple second looks, third looks, fourth looks on whatever it is – your MRI, your X-ray, other things that are lifesaving situations."

Former Acting CDC Director @DrRichBesser discusses an update to the CDC website that says the following: "The claim 'vaccines do not cause autism' is not an evidence-based claim because studies have not ruled out the possibility that infant vaccines cause autism." Dr. Besser: "It's falsehood after falsehood… It's not that the question shouldn't have been answered, but its been answered and its been addressed. To keep putting it forward as a valid scientific question leads to confusion and unfortunately will lead some parents who want to do right by their children to withhold vaccines that could help keep their children safe."
