*Is a conflict between two major tribes imminent?* If this conflict occurs, it would be a significant setback for the tribal unity of Manipur tribes. The Naga tribes appear to be playing into the hands of the Meiteis. Dividing the tribal groups of Manipur would allow Meiteis to play the game of divide and rule policy between the Nagas and Kukis. The blame lies primarily with the arrogance of Kuki militants and the tacit involvement of intelligence agencies in allowing the Soo cadre to disrupt peaceful coexistence between the two major tribal groups. It is possible that this is a larger game played by Meitei leadership involving the Indian intelligence to clear surface road access to Dimapur? If this is the case, it could spread to the Ukhrul road and even Kamjong. Imagine a decision to primarily achieve the goal of clearing the road to Dimapur for the free movement of Meiteis.
