A challenge facing running coaches who don't have access to performance labs for assessing our training programs: Without more sophisticated testing. we focus on fast to determine how efficiently our athletes' hearts are performing, or how effectively they are using oxygen.

@EatSleepTrain_ We can hit 250 accels, or X amount of HSR in a number of different ways - and do so without preparing for the demands of the game, despite it looking like a GPS week!

@EatSleepTrain_ Agree - I still see and hear loads of rehab cases working back solely from GPS metrics to hit a specific number of accels etc Not all accels are created equal - context of intensity, previous & subsequent action, decision making, chaos has to be considered for RTP to be rich

How do kids get better at coaching footballers when the main frame of reference is gps. So much reference to GPS metrics that rarely paint a rich picture of context. Even worse it’s used to set “limits” on rehab. If your rehab is “constrained” by what the player does in a game , you will inevitably under prepare.

I had @SportsmithHQ and @TonyBlazevich in my ear on my drive home from london. Whole part whole learning. Using drills for calibration. Clinical reasoning when applying drills. It depends …. Very cool listen!

Spot the difference 👀 👀 👀 We love all things resisted running 🛷 Heavy for the beginning (Step 0-3) Medium for the middle (Step 4-10) Light for the end (Step 11+) But, how you coach matters as much as how you load it! Which is before vs after? speedsolutions.training

Step length vs step frequency🏃🏿‍♂️ When assessing a group - Step length is the main thing that separates the good and bad performers. Yet when you look at the individual - Step frequency is the main thing that separates good and poor performances. @Hans_von_Lieres @wildy_jj
