Shutting down TMX is a point I've heard before and it's a stretch. Give up the tolls? Abandon stock for BC refineries? Vancouver is the countries largest port and Prince Rupert is Canada's sixth largest port with goods that need to cross Alberta. And Manitoba and Saskatchewan have to get grain and potash out. BC would be isolated if a deal wasn't reached. That's a point that has never landed with me. The interests to make a deal would be reciprocal.

Query for @jkenney : separation has worked for other jurisdictions. His response- what if your Canadian passport revoked? We are not Switzerland. Who owns TransMountain PL? They would shut it down overnight! US west coast states would block our exports. Economic suicide!! Rebuttal by @ikwilson - we aren’t landlocked by geography but by Ottawa. Knee on our neck and hand on our wallet! We can sell into the largest economy in the world that wants us to succeed. Trump has approved pipelines. We are policy locked by ottawa. Let’s keep riffing here says @jkenney. Ottawa just built a pipeline. Expediting LNG export. Lose TMX (that’s new to me…just saying). End of any future for oil and gas industry!!!!! Woah.

@Doodleshak @jkenney @Citizen004 Ceded to Canada, I would probably want to renegotiate those documents if I was in their place. You know I think the natives have a decent amount of guns - hunters and all. Are you signing up to enforce Alberta's claim on their land?

@MkUltraAddict @jkenney @Citizen004 Read a treaty, hon. And then a dictionary to know what “ceded” means. You’re all the same with your tired little comments. You get one vote.

@Doodleshak @tlar @jkenney @Citizen004 Did they now? Maybe we can get Calgary on board - promise them a cut of all the oil $ passing through and we can have a great little corridor that encompasses the middle of the Alberta.

@Doodleshak @jkenney @Citizen004 Hate to be the minority reactionary party in that situation, hard to garnish much sympathy when your rallying cry is "let's steal the Indians land, it will make us rich"

@Derekintherain @tlar @Doodleshak @jkenney @Citizen004 Performative BS ? No I'm sure the separatists have considered what it means separate and they aren't engaging in some power fantasy where they get back at "socialists", natives and immigrants who are the REAL thing keeping them down not their 2000 dollar truck payment.

@Doodleshak @tlar @jkenney @Citizen004 Dictator ? There's this referendum actually, I'm just applying 50%+1 logic and any reasonable polling. What is that too low of a threshold to separate from Alberta?

@tlar @Doodleshak @jkenney @Citizen004 And until then Edmonton doesn't need to separate from Alberta. If it makes it better for you Edmonton can declare itself a province of Alberta, take the surrounding area and highways and then separate.

@MkUltraAddict @Doodleshak @jkenney @Citizen004 A city cannot unilaterally separate from a province in Canada. Because municipalities are entirely "creatures of the province" under the Constitution Act, 1867, their existence, boundaries, and powers are completely defined and controlled by provincial legislation.

One vote per person. If THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE IN THE PROVINCE votes to separate, the province gets to start that conversation with Canada. Do you honestly think that EVERY person in Edmonton wants to stay? If not, then you are simply stating (in your belief) that the majority view should apply. Why would that not apply to a majority vote within Alberta? Nice try though. You have the option to leave Alberta if you don’t want to leave Canada. 🤷‍♀️

@jkenney @Citizen004 You actually think the US would stand by and let the Federal Government block their energy imports? The US would turn the lights out in this country in minutes.

I guess Alberta could block the trans Canada and rail lines too… 🤷‍♀️Is that what this really comes down to? Alberta better toe the line or the government will just penalize us more? That’s extortion and I find it sad that something like that would be okay rather than actually considering some of Alberta’s grievances and working towards addressing them. 🙄

@OsasH37047 @najam_ali Killing people and achieving your goals are different and participants are not judged on equal terms. The world's superpower started a war of choice and lost more from the war than they gained. It weakened their position in the ME. Iran strengthened their position and regime

There is a special species of people who simply cannot process the idea that the U.S. may have lost strategic ground to an underdog. So now begins the comedy festival. Every day a new theory. Every hour a new “masterstroke.” Every setback somehow becomes “part of the plan.” Soon they will be explaining that even the retreat was actually an advanced form of victory too sophisticated for ordinary humans to understand.😄

@BagelPolling @AmericaExpanded @ObsceneSymphony @Saltiest_Otter Yes. Luckily separatists are cowards who are expecting someone else to die for their cause: "CAF will switch sides derp" so I don't think you have the balls to act on your own. Otherwise YOU might die and you don't believe in anything greater than "I deserve more money"
