The past week has unfolded as the most exhausting & emotionally taxing period of my life. This is coming from someone on the outside looking in, and no words can capture the true horror being felt by the people in Gaza and Palestine. The first five years of my life were spent within the embrace of Gaza. While the fine details of those early years may have faded, they remain some of the most cherished memories in my life. This, perhaps, is due to the inherent purity that saturates the innocence of a child's imagination. Within those tender aspirations, hopes, and dreams, there exists an unbounded universe of possibilities. In Gaza, I felt the heartbeat of those aspirations and dreams, played alongside fellow 5-year-olds who, like myself, nurtured kindred dreams. Laughter filled our days, playful pranks were our craft, pantry raids were our small rebellions, and the resonating echoes of children's football games filled the streets. But most significantly, we all held in our hearts unique dreams. My own dreams were granted, as I was fortunate enough to explore the world. Regrettably, not all those left behind could share the same fortune. A few years after we departed Gaza, Israel imposed a stifling blockade on the city, asserting control over nearly every facet of the residents' daily lives through direct and indirect means. I watch in horror, as countless lives have been shattered over the past two decades. Dreams, once vibrant and promising, lie crushed in the wake of a brutal occupation. In stark contrast to the aspirations we held as children, today's 5-year-olds cling to a single hope - to witness the light of another day. Despite their attempts to silence us, we will persist and rise above censorship. As they endeavor to stifle our voices, we will only grow louder. These moments will etch themselves indelibly into our collective memory and they are moments that we must never forget. But, above all, our prayers for the people of Gaza and Palestine must never cease, for they harbor a glimmer of hope in the face of unimaginable adversity. #FreePalaestine #Palestine #EndOccupation #EndtheOccupation 🇵🇸♥️

The $320 million pier in Gaza was swept into the sea by strong waves just as retired Colonel Ann Wright had predicted. Instead of wasting our tax money on such projects, the U.S. should pressure the Israeli government to open the Rafah crossing and allow aid to enter Gaza.
