Mrinal Pande has fallen prey to the pressure to be constantly funny online. Of course, it's much more difficult to admit that your joke fell flat rather than to come off as a body-shaming boomer.

@omarali50 @MalikAshutosh @GoCorona2 Yeah, they are very integrated into the Indian mainstream (along with the Bohras and Lucknavi Shias as mentioned) and super liberal with frequent inter marriage with Hindus (and others). Super comfortable with temples etc too which hardcore elements don't like.

Have seen elderly folks wetting themselves as a they had lost the control but defence of the public urinating in lift is totally absurd.
ruchi kokcha@ruchikokcha

Expected better sense from you @_sayema . But guess you have become quite selective with your voice. FYI Every metro station has a toilet which is usually 2-3 min away from the lift. Stop defending unhygienic and uncivilised habits esp where a man took his dick out in public in front of women. That’s harassment.

There are a few. My daughter was never interested in Kathak but my nieces learnt it. But as a hobby not to actually perform. We even have an amazing Bharat Natayam dancer in Karachi. Sheema Kirmani. And Naheed Siddiqui is our finest Kathak performer, though she has not lived in Pakistan for a while now.

The stunning Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva from the Gandhara Civilization of Pakistan at LACMA. This statue was the sole reason I kept returning there. 🔗 collections.lacma.org/object/45197

Strange because for the longest time in Indian history, Indian men were roaming topless. Brahmins would wear their janeus and the elites were occasionally wearing a sash. Look Buddha Maitreya here (peak Indic male beauty, btw, absolute fav :P).

Someone commented that changing T-shirts in public is “against Indian culture.” Interesting observation. A person who cheats, lies, exploits loopholes and makes money through illegitimate means is often socially acceptable - as long as they don’t get caught. But a good-hearted person changing his shirt in public becomes the moral crisis? Strange priorities.

My Hindi video on Kamal Maula mosque, misnomered as Bhojshala should be out in a couple of weeks. But sharing a piece I had written back in 2016, on how the myth of the Bhojshala was manufactured in the 20th c, the term itself first coming up in 1903! scroll.in/article/803376…

@ayeshaijazkhan Noticed same here in US. The immigrants who do this kind of work gets welfare benifit. This might not be the case who has tailoring shop.

So a quick cost of labour comparison: If I want to get the length on a pair of pants shortened close to my home in London, it costs £22. If I walk 15 minutes to more of an immigrant area, cost drops to £10. And if I take the pants with me on holiday and get it done in Pakistan, it’s Rs. 500 (approx £1.50). Then they say there’s no manufacturing in Britain. And the immigrants are taking our jobs.

Indian Muslims already have their own Indian culture. It's called Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb. The best clothes. The best cuisines. The best language. The best manners. The best music, the best poetry, the best architecture, the best craftsmanship, the best art. Best festivals that include Holi, Diwali and Christmas. Artistic expressions that no single tradition could have produced alone. This is what a thousand years of synthesis looks like. Muslim, Hindu, Sikh, Christian, all of it distilled into something greater than any of its sources. Purely Indian. The best of the best. This is the inheritance. All religions are part of it and practice it in varied degree. So the question answers itself. Why would anyone trade this, one of the great civilizational achievements in human history, for a lowly Sanghi culture? What exactly is being offered in exchange? Gaumutra? Lynching? Hate? A political cultural of people from Nagpur, who have produced nothing? Look at Sanghi buildings. Garish paint, aggressive geometry, no proportion, no grace. This is what happens when ideology replaces taste. A tradition that gave the world the Taj Mahal and the Red Fort is being forced to take aesthetic lessons from people who build a parliament building that looks like a 'taboot'. For good's sake, they can't even light up our monuments properly. You don't ask a man who owns a cultural palace to move into a cultural cow shed and call it an upgrade.
TooMuch Demo@2muchdemocracy1

The rest isn't a sermon, it's reality. Indian Muslims can fully homogenize into India's shared culture, language & national ethos while keeping Islamic faith as a strictly personal choice. If they can't (or won't), they'll keep enabling their own othering. Modernity demands integration, not parallel societies. Secular India isn't optional.
