The least pleasant call I had in the process of building Flare was with a VC fund where Ran was an advisor. Ran ranted at me for a good 15-20 minutes that XRP was worth nothing, that building DeFi for XRP was a pointless pursuit and that Flare would never work. Fortunately my character is such that rather than dissuade me it made me more determined.

What was just said here is not only unbelievably uninformed… it’s dangerous misinformation for newer investors trying to understand how digital asset infrastructure actually works. “These companies fund themselves by dumping tokens” “Just buy the shares instead” “XRP has no reason to exist” Ripple is a PRIVATE company. XRP is an OPEN digital asset used for liquidity and settlement.. these are not the same thing. You cannot replace a neutral bridge asset with private equity shares. That makes absolutely no sense from a settlement and interoperability perspective. This is the equivalent of saying.. “Why use the internet? Just buy shares of Cisco” the craziest part is.. this misinformation is coming from individuals who many people already consider among the LEAST trustworthy voices in crypto.. Both know and proven scammers in the community. But if after all these years you still cannot separate: Ripple the company from XRP the asset… you should probably stop pretending to educate people on this topic.
