As Procter & Gamble was (and is) an enormous brand, they went on a marketing tirade and attempted to convince the public that this new oil was healthier than Saturated Fats. They succeeded… selling millions of pounds of Crisco within just 5 years and they haven’t slowed down.

So how did they come to be? In 1911, Procter & Gamble (🤮) brought Crisco to market by chemically altering the Cottonseed plant to create an oil that somewhat resembled lard.
