Bombing Iran in the middle of negotiations, while starving Cuba, while genociding Palestinians, while threatening to invade Greenland… the US and Israel are the single greatest threat to humanity and it’s not even close. We are all forced to live in the nightmare they create.

BREAKING: As Donald Trump cancels free admission to National Parks on MLK Day, California will be offering FREE entry at more than 200 participating state parks. Honor MLK. Get outdoors. And stick it to an old man with a fragile ego.

Removing free access to the National Parks on MLK Jr. Day and Juneteenth is exactly as racist as you think it is.

BREAKING: A new UN report finds that Israel’s assault on Gaza - with the destruction of health care, education, infrastructure, even the banking system - has erased 69 years of human development, marking the worst economic collapse ever recorded. This is not war: it is genocide.

Trump is about to steal nearly 20 more seats in Congress. The Supreme Court is poised to wipe away the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and eliminate representation for black and brown communities across our country. The GOP knows they cannot win. They are threatening Governors. Rigging maps across the country. And have now recruited SCOTUS to do their dirty work, too.

A new report from Brown University finds that America has spent $33 billion on Israel in the last 2 years. That’s $45 million dollars EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. That’s $4.85/day for every citizen of Israel. The American taxpayers have sent EVERY citizen in Israel a $144 check, every month, for 24 months straight. A family of 4 in Israel is receiving $577/month in subsidies, courtesy of the American taxpayer, for 2 years now. Israelis still have free healthcare and free college and subsidized childcare. They haven’t reduced any of their social welfare programs. Meanwhile Americans are literally paying for groceries with their credit cards. Same as they have been for almost 3 years.

You know how people called women hysterical for predicting the right wing would take down Roe v. Wade (which they've done) and then attack access to birth control (which they're doing)? Hear me when I say that women's very right to vote is next.

The Washington Post has published the known names of the 18,500 children killed by Israel in Gaza since Oct. 7th. At every 500th child, the Post tells you how many names of dead children you've read. washingtonpost.com/world/interact…

Unfortunately, we are sending international students into high-risk jobs that few others want to do. In most cases they’re poorly trained for what they face. The building where Harshandeep was murdered is a notorious one. There is just far too much abuse and exploitation. In years to come Canada will look back shamefully at how we used international students to prop up our Universities and Colleges, used them as cheap labour, made promises of a path to PR and citizenship which was then reneged upon, and then ultimately watched politicians turn their backs on them when it became politically expedient to do so.

Murray Sinclair was a great Canadian, a great Manitoban, a great Anishinaabe.  His career stands as a legacy of public service and a deep commitment to truth, fairness and dignity for all people.  He was the first Indigenous person to be named to the Manitoba provincial court and the Court of Queen’s Bench of Manitoba. He was the first, but he will be remembered as one of the best.  He was appointed co-commissioner of the Aboriginal Justice Inquiry, which laid bare systemic racism within the justice system and is considered a foundational perspective on the system’s relationship with Indigenous people. He led the Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Inquest and his report spurred systematic change in the delivery of pediatric cardiac care in our province.  The penultimate moment of his career was his work as chair of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada. He approached a process that could have been divisive and instead transformed it into Calls to Action for the future of our country, helping all Canadians to learn to walk together into a future of respect and understanding where we live up to the phrase residential school survivors taught us – Every Child Matters.  It will be a long time before our nation produces another person the calibre of Murray Sinclair. He showed us there is no reconciliation without truth. We should hold dear in our hearts his words that our nation is on the cusp of a great new era and we must all “dare to live greatly together.”  On behalf of the people of Manitoba, I extend my condolences to his family and to all Canadians for the loss of Mazina Giizhik.  A sacred fire will be open to the public on the north side of the legislative building grounds until Murray Sinclair’s funeral later this week.

Thank you @ThisAmerLife for humanizing storytelling. I can’t stop thinking about Yousef from Gaza and his family since my regular listen on my drive to work yesterday. I am reminded how deeply we need to feel for others and the need to see ourselves in the struggles of others
