@MsOngnipotent @Oluchiisxn You still didn't get the rural problem. They did wash, everyone did. Problem was washing doesn't make infection go away, if you don't use a proper material and disinfectants. Issue of moisture allowed infections. Reusable sanitary pads are not just piece of cloth folded.

@Sa_ch49 @Oluchiisxn Even if they managed to supply them with pads for life, if the hygiene issue isn’t fixed. Guess what -they’re getting infections in all sorts of other places. I hate that the issue is being blamed on pads or rags or whatever it’s called.

@MsOngnipotent @Oluchiisxn Washing rags doesn't mean ridding bacterias till time of use and issue of moisture. What are your sources to suggest sanitary pads are bad compared to rags and what harm does it cause? Rags are unhygienic, you need to learn about germ growth and infections.

@Sa_ch49 @Oluchiisxn Still baffles me how people can’t wash their period rags and blame infections on that. If that task was too heavy, chances are they probably dont wash anything else either. Id blame whatever infections they’re getting on THAT.

@MsOngnipotent @Oluchiisxn For rural India, it was such situation, using old cloth. Therefore, sanitary pads were necessary solution. Which that movie was about, an awareness to the matter. They definitely didn't have access to reusable sanitary pads.

@Sa_ch49 @Oluchiisxn That’s a lack of hygiene. Don’t blame the rags. If someone can’t wash rags that they use for their vaginas I’m pretty sure they have bigger problems. While use-and-throw pads LOOK safe and “sanitary” - They are not.

@MsOngnipotent @Oluchiisxn You have no idea, how harmful the rags were for rural Indian women. Rags are highly unsafe and prone to all sorts of infections. Use and throw Sanitary pads are way to go.
