@glorpinity I definitely see people praying on it's failure but I really don't think it's that impactful. The general consensus I got from people matched my own: I'm kinda interested but I don't want to invest in a niche genre I don't like. I'll keep my fingers crossed for a good sale

as much as i love marathon scapegoating the braindead hatemongering is silly game is in a niche genre + has several significant issues for the average gamer that makes it hard to pick up / stay with i definitely believe if bungie straps in with the game it can r6 and grow bigly

@Jordan456257099 Nah I won't be playing it, all I really enjoyed from Rockstar was the GTAV stunt races. I've spent plenty of time with 4, 5 and RDR2 and I just don't like the gameplay

Is it just me or is there anyone who else who doesn't care about GTA 6. Like I'm just meh. I will play it but I'm not overly excited.

3/10 Gunplay was god awful. Tried to hard to be like COD. Oh you like this character, do ya'? Well Im going to try this thing called Deconstruction where I try (and fail) to completely pick apart what makes your character special! And everything just looked crusty.

@Mad_HatchHD @gold_athena_ And it's aged like milk. Sure it's impressive on the 360, but it doesn't scale well in MCC. When it came to pc I thought I was seeing texture corruption, but it was just really low resolution 2D hook details on the back on the hog that I couldn't see until I stepped back

@gold_athena_ The graphical fidelity actually becomes a bit of a negative since that's what contributed to dumbing down of the combat ai.

Honestly? 3.5/10 Obviously this isn't to hate on people that DO like Halo 4. If you do, all power to you! I just have a strong negative opinion on it considering it's the sequel to my favorite game of all time. Off the top of my head: The good: + Graphical fidelity is impressive, given that it's an Xbox 360 title + Some parts of the soundtrack are okay + You get to fly a Pelican without doing an easter egg + Visor customization is a step up from Reach The bad: - The art style is awful. Been talked to death, but virtually EVERY aspect of the game's visual presentation is hellishly overdesigned - Sound design is mediocre in some places, bad in the rest. Battle Rifle sounds like crickets - No dual wielding - Master Chief talks WAY too much - Forerunners not being Human anymore is a terrible change - Captain Del Rio - Prometheans aren't fun to fight. A bullet sponge enemy thats able to get resurrected, teleport up to you, and 4-frame one hit melee you from off screen is, surprisingly, frustrating - Rampancy is changed from Marathon-style metastability to less interesting AI schizofrenia - The Mantis is sluggish, feels like Titanfall gameplay at 0.25x speed - Grunts don't speak English anymore :( - Legendary is annoyingly difficult, not fun difficult - Quick-Time events - There's like 3 million buttons, and they all use the same exact animation - Weapons run out of ammo too quickly - The MP announcer's voice direction is way too over the top for my taste - Sprint in general, but also the fact that it's always available and not a selectable ability - Spartan Ops is repetitive and a slog. On paper it's a great idea, but in execution it's not - Infection has forced Flood player models and weapons - The main menu is too cluttered - Power weapons can be called in anywhere in the map at anytime - Loadout system means that everyone can spawn with a DMR and Boltshot Overall, it's probably my least favorite of the modern Halo games. 5 at least has some unique mechanics going for it, and Infinite looks better. 4 is just Reach but worse. It gets at least a 3.5 because at the end of the day, you're still the green dude shooting aliens.

@gold_athena_ I feel like you’re being intentionally unfair by basing most of your observations less on “is it actually good/bad” and instead doing “do I prefer Halo 3”. Like really? “Some parts of the soundtrack are ok”? It has an INCREDIBLE soundtrack. You can be good AND worse than another.

y'all hate on Halo 4's artstyle a lot for "not being Halo" and although it's true the artstyle is a really big departure from what was before, saying it is bad is a big ass LIE

@lastchalice 5/10, not a fun time but better than 5. The core gameplay loop is similar enough that I can have fun in the odd game of swat, but I feel like it did everything worse than its predecessors in a subjective sense

PC is not smooth. Not plug and play. Many caveats to it. There are some pros, but not enough for those that just want to purchase a game and fire it up after a long day of work, an off day to relax, or just wanting to get straight to gaming, with no other tinkering. 👌

@MarathonArchive But I don't like when games change so regularly and I find live service content additions shallow and unsatisfying. And for the record, 80 is too much to spend on a video game, so I just wait for sales. Haven't bought a game at retail since like, 2018

God I hate this take. Do people REALLY think that all Halo needs to succeed is a full game at launch? NO NEW PLAYERS will play Halo if the selling point is “hey, it’s content complete!”. They’ll just say “oh it’s call of duty but older” and move on.

The problem with Halo discourse these days is many engage in reactionary tribalism. You can't like/dislike something without people thinking you're taking sides. Both sides claim they're the wholesome ones and taking the high ground, but they're all toxic and ragebait each other.

In 2001, Halo CE was a gritty and grounded sci-fi. Fast forward to today, it’s very much steeped in metaphysical and esoteric lore. Should Halo continue that route? Personally, I say yes.
