Key principle: consent of the governed.
A monarchy doesn’t achieve that, because who consented to the divine right of a king?
A 51% democracy achieves the barest threshold of consent. Better than 0%, but highly disaligned.
We ideally want a ~99% democracy, where all opt in.

@callebtc Are Bitcoiners really arguing for a monarchy? I haven’t come across any. I have come across @balajis’ idea of a 99% democracy being superior to a 51% democracy, which is compelling. i.e. Reducing the scope of this state to only the core functions that we all agree are important.
