I had a moment last week that's hard to explain if you're not a developer. But I'll try - because a year ago if someone told me adding a new blockchain to my app would take a single file rename, I'd assume they were high. I was adding cross-chain wallet support to NEAR FM. Started with Solana - built the deposit, swap, and withdrawal flows through NEAR Intents. Everything worked. Then I sat down to add Ethereum support. Opened the code. Looked at the Solana integration. The deposit method is the same. The swap method is the same. The withdrawal method is the same. I renamed filename solana => cross_chain.rs That was the entire Ethereum integration. Same code. Same API. Same flow. Different chain. NEAR Intents abstracts the chain away completely. The blockchain your user is on becomes a parameter, not an architecture decision. This is what chain abstraction actually feels like when you build with it. Not a whitepaper concept. The moment where adding a new blockchain takes less time than writing this tweet. If you're a developer and haven't tried building on NEAR Intents - do it once. That rename moment will change how you think about cross-chain.

🚨 COMMUNITY UPDATE: Machine Payments Protocol hits the NEAR stack A dev on Reddit shared an MPP implementation (yes, the one from Stripe + Tempo), but now it actually speaks NEAR What’s inside: ✦ HTTP 402 payment flow ✦ Axum middleware ✦ NEP-141 tokens NEAR Intents + Outlayer. Agent executes. Payment goes through delegated execution. Still a work in progress, but the core already works. You can try the demo and share your feedback ✍️

NEAR Intents product is actually consists of three core layers powered by NEAR tech: - asset layer - holding and moving assets across different chains - settlement layer - intents smart contract and soon escrow with ton more features to settle matches intents at 600ms - matching layer - broadcast intent and match with a solver based on originator requirements Plus 1 click swap API - which is the easiest gasless api for exchanging assets, bridging or paying. Asset layer is built using Chain Signature - a MPC that is controlled by near contracts. This means that any account or contract on NEAR can have public addresses, hold assets and issue transactions for other chains. It’s as if each NEAR account and contract got a Fireblocks account. There are other use cases for this asset layer - simplest one is bridging assets from NEAR out to other chains (OmniBridge). This allowed to bring ZEC to Solana. @TemplarProtocol using it to hold deposits in isolated lending pools. It’s fully programmable and effectively makes NEAR the easiest place to build multichain apps.
