I found over 70 federal lawsuits alleging medical neglect and deficiencies at Delaney Hall ICE detention center in Newark, NJ. “It’s a systemic issue that the facility is facing and they’re not correctly addressing.” @RobMenendez4NJ 1/🧵 gothamist.com/news/wait-for-…

LIVE: We are testifying at a @HomelandDems field hearing on The Human Cost of Immigration Enforcement, with special focus on Delaney Hall. Tune in with us live: democrats-homeland.house.gov/activities/oth…
Rep. LaMonica McIver@RepLaMonica

We have seen what ICE has done in broad daylight, and I believe what detainees are saying about what's happening behind closed doors.  That’s why I brought @homelanddems to Newark today to hear from people on the ground about the horrors detainees are facing inside Delaney Hall.

NEWS: We are increasing funding for the Detention Deportation Defense Initiative by $12 million – for a total of $20.2 million. We are also launching a Rapid Legal Response Initiative to expand statewide legal capacity for emergency immigration defense and support immigrant families across New Jersey. These actions will help ensure more people in New Jersey's communities receive due process under the law and more New Jersey attorneys are mobilized to stand up for the fundamental human rights of detainees and their families.

Delaney Hall hunger strikers demanded release of the elderly, the youth, and the vulnerable. And then release of everyone inside! There are now NO pregnant women in Delaney Hall. And today the high school senior is released and ready to graduate. Some down, ALL to go!
Hakeem Jeffries@RepJeffries

We have secured the release of a brilliant and caring 18-year old teenage girl held in ICE custody for months. She is now back on track to graduate from High School.

Sen. Andy Kim: "It's a choice. Delaney Hall is run by GEO Group. GEO Group is getting a nearly $1 billion contract to run Delaney Hall. They tell me there is one full-time doctor for 800 detainees. They could have more doctors if they wanted to, but that's cutting into their profits."

Thank you @RepLaMonica @RepMenendez @RepJeffries for bringing the conversation back where it belongs. This is about the original protesters - the ones inside. Delaney Hall's strikers demand: #FreethemALL staring with the elderly, the youth, and the medically vulnerable.
Hakeem Jeffries@RepJeffries

Just completed a congressional oversight visit with members of the New Jersey delegation. Delaney Hall should be shut down. This is not America.

Our community is holding ICE accountable and I want to be sure we have the tools to do so safely. At our Know Your Rights workshop last night, @NJAIJ discussed best practices when dealing with DHS and ICE. We are in this together and we will protect each other.

Rep. Nadler@RepJerryNadler·
This afternoon, I conducted a congressional oversight visit of the privately-owned ICE facility, Delaney Hall, in Newark, NJ. What I witnessed and learned from discussions with detainees and officials was deeply disturbing and warrants further oversight and investigations. The medical neglect—denying people access to potentially life-saving care and withholding necessary medicine—is abhorrent. Delaney Hall must be immediately closed and the Trump administration must cease their cruel, chaotic, and deeply inhumane immigration policies.
