GREAT NEWS. Odd that all four make zero mention of such, yet prominently feature their "activism" entirely unrelated to Memorial Day, right? We are so very tired of being told not to believe what we're watching with our own eyes, Mr. Malinowski. You cannot pile up concrete chunks and construction debris to block access & prevent egress. You cannot shove, threaten, or physically interfere with federal agents. THIS IS NOT THE WAY, but you already know that, they already know that...WE ALL already know that. Next, the same crowd that spent Memorial Day at an ICE detention facility will undoubtedly be portrayed by the media as innocent victims who were somehow "attacked" for "peacefully protesting." Seriously. Hear me when I say that we are exhausted by this nonsense. What we are witnessing is a political class that never misses an opportunity to grandstand, never misses an opportunity to perform & apparently cannot even set aside MEMORIAL DAY to honor the Americans who gave everything for this country. Epic effort on your part here and truly interesting spin, but wiggling out of this one isn't that easy, Sir. Tasteless. Disrespectful, but again, you already know that. They have embarrassed New Jersey.

Every one of them honored our fallen heroes at Memorial Day ceremonies across New Jersey today. And then they stood up for the rights and freedoms those heroes gave their lives to defend. Kudos to @SenatorAndyKim, @GovSherrillNJ, @RepNellie, & @RepLaMonica.
Dawn Fantasia@DawnFantasia_NJ

If @GovSherrillNJ @SenatorAndyKim @RepNellie & @RepLaMonica can't honor the one day that this country mourns American soldiers who died defending this nation, they will NEVER show a shred of decency for the victims of the criminal migrants they defend. You are all a disgrace.

I just visited Delaney Hall with my colleagues @RepNellie and @SenatorAndyKim, and it’s crystal clear to me there’s only one option now. CLOSE DELANEY HALL, NOW. The conditions here are absolutely unacceptable. These detention centers have no place anywhere in our state or our country.

What’s happening at Delaney Hall is unacceptable. I visited this morning with my colleagues to inspect conditions, get information about the hunger strike, and demand answers. Delaney Hall must be shut down, ICE must be reined in, and this fight is far from over.

ICE agents pepper spraying protesters and a US Senator, abusing detainees and terrorizing innocent people. No more. I’m requesting funding for the Detention, Deportation, Defense Initiative in the FY27 budget so we can protect our state from ICE’s terror. nj.com/news/2026/05/i…

I saw chaos inside and outside of the ICE detention center Delaney Hall today. Detainees protesting the lack of due process, the disgusting food and poor treatment while their families and advocates stood outside calling for help. Instead of engaging with me and others about the poor conditions, ICE sent in an armored vehicle and a line of armed agents that only poured gasoline on the fire. Civilians were tackled and restrained, and agents fired pepper balls and spray into the crowd. This is more of the same lawlessness we’ve seen elsewhere around the country.

Our country deserves accountability. Our country deserves the humane treatment of every person here. In fact, our Constitution demands this. What I witnessed and experienced today was shameful. Delaney Hall is a failure; it’s this administration’s failure. The only way to make this right for our communities is to shut it down and make sure the failures we’ve seen never happen again.

I was trying to deescalate the situation outside Delaney Hall and I was pepper sprayed along with other protestors by ICE. @GovSherrillNJ fund legal services for those in detention or facing deportation now. ICE's terror will not stop and we cannot continue to comply in advance.

@NJDevs82 @OneJerseySchorr @SenatorAndyKim @RepMenendez @RepAnalilia Imagine your ignorance, supporting a pedophile and a man who is actively enriching himself and his family while in office. New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill is at Delaney Hall, the ICE detention center in Newark, along with @SenatorAndyKim, @RepMenendez and @RepAnalilia, to investigate what detainees say are inhumane conditions. The visit comes on the fourth day of protests by detainees who say they are protesting poor conditions, lack of access to adequate medical care and insufficient food.

What’s happening at Delaney Hall is wrong, and we need to hold ICE accountable for what they are doing there and across the country. This is just one of the reasons I’ve stood with the Roxbury community and fought back against ICE’s plan for a detention center there. They cannot be trusted in Delaney Hall and we absolutely cannot allow them to operate in Roxbury.

Every year, I share this video of French caretakers who take sand from Omaha Beach in Normandy, and scrub them into the letters to give them the gold coloring. They do this for all 9,386 US soldiers who died. France also gave us this land as American soil. #MemorialDayWeekend

This Memorial Day I’d like to remember my friend LTC Rocky Baragona. Rocky was a West Point grad, an Ordnance/Logistics officer, a paratrooper and a profoundly gifted logistician. I served with him in the 82nd when we were both majors, he was the best airborne logistician I ever met, and he was always patient in training the new guy (me). He was not tall, he never married, his uniform was often wrinkled, his boots were muddy in garrison and his incredibly dry sense of humor threw a lot of people. But he would do anything before he let the paratroopers he supported go without food, water, ammo, serviceable gear or Level II+ medical/surgical care, right on the drop zone. If you are a logistician in the 82nd, you train to jump into an airfield seizure with what we called the “Alpha Echelon.” Enough brigade-level supplies for 48 hours get heavy-dropped or CDSed in with you, along with a surgical team and surgical equipment suite. You can make fun of us loggies all you want, but in the 82nd we were right there in the dirt with the 11Bs, and Rocky was the best at it I ever knew. Rocky’s battalion command was not in the 82nd, it was in a corps-level maintenance battalion. Rocky died in Iraq, early on in OIF, not from enemy action, but from a contracted Kuwaiti 18 wheeler running over his command HMMWV while he was in it. I highlight Rocky today not just because he was a friend, not just because he was awesome, but to also remind everyone that the military is a dangerous business no matter what you are doing, and dead is dead. Rest in peace Rocky. All the way. Airborne. And thanks for the mentorship.

Today, I was at Delaney Hall to be in solidarity with the detainees on hunger strike, their families, and the advocates fighting tirelessly for their safe release. ICE's conduct is a moral failure, and silence is complicity. Delaney Hall must be shut down. ICE must be abolished. Not eventually, now.

I’m back at Delaney Hall with @GovSherrillNJ and other members of the NJ delegation to meet with families of detainees and listen to community advocates. We’re working together to make sure they’re heard and to speak out with them.

Delaney Hall must be shut down immediately. ICE cannot be allowed to continue operating in this way.
