Fun fact from Crimson Desert #7 You can use an axe to cut down trees, for which you can use your nature's grasp to slam to the ground breaking it down into smaller logs. After this, you can use your axe again to cut the logs into smaller split logs (timber).

Know the range of the Florida Yew Tree. The Florida Yew Tree, although not listed on any catalog by the US, is considered critically endangered by the International Union of Conservationists. Its only known existence is in a 10 to 15 square mile region in Florida’s panhandle along the Apalachicola River, within the confines of Torreya State Park. The sandy slopes and ravines of this area make for a rare, ideal habitat for the plant. The Florida Yew can grow up to 20 feet tall, even though many specimens like to remain low to the ground. They thrive in full sun, but can also handle the shade of thick forest, and are highly fire resistant. It has a scaly, brown or purple bark, with irregularly oriented branches, which give the tree a very unique look. The bark of the Florida Yew Tree contains packitaxel, a main ingredient in forms of chemotherapy, although it is not take from the Florida yew due to its endangered status. This rare conifer has no real threat from pests or disease. The two main threats to the tree’s survival is the low number existing in the wild, and the overpopulation of deer that live in the area. I do appreciate you all following along with me on this journey I’ve taken to explore the native ranges of our country’s trees. Several of you have pointed out that, looking at many of these maps, a large number of tree species that you wouldn’t associate with Florida do in fact grow along the Apalachicola. If there is one thing I have learned through all of this, it’s that the Apalachicola River reigns supreme when it comes to biodiversity in the southeast.

A new study has identified 'post game depression' as the sadness players feel after finishing a video game It was revealed the effect is particularly strong after completing an RPG

There is a philosophy dovetailing with this that seem to be gaining more traction, one which appeals particularly to young, depressed minds (as mine once was), bears knowing about too: anti-natalism. aeon.co/essays/having-… - One of the modern philosophical leaders in this piece (successors to some fringe 19th century German philosophers). I keep close watch on writings of some of these groups, I made the very tough choice not to have children because of severe genetically-linked mental illness in both immediate families, while reading and deciding came across some like the FB group mentioned in the article in this thread - reddit.com/r/antinatalism… To note, the anti-natalist community uses this as backup here but most stories in that group (I do still browse it) boil down not to a rejection of life but of just very bad personal circumstances: usually either an absent or unsupportive partner or a child with severe issues they are unable to handle and lack supports for. This is the wellspring of thought producing groups like the Voluntary Human Extinction Movement. At the extreme, there is possibility of existential threat from those who see the greater good in eliminating "Voluntary." Remedies lie in creating reasons for optimism and hope, for giving purpose of some sort, that we can and will make a better future and that the wonder of consciousness - even if just for a brief flicker of us, part of the universe, knowing itself - being worth fighting for. It certainly jumps out at me that of those I know with children, the most common factor is optimism and life with enjoyment and purpose - not wealth.
