The midnight tour is the time each day when some stand guard so the city may rest. Our @NYPD75Pct brother, P.O. Peter Figoski, stood for his final midnight tour roll call 14 years ago today, shot and killed hours later while investigating a robbery. A loving father to four daughters, Officer Figoski sacrificed everything so that others may rest peacefully. Now it is his turn to rest while his fellow officers carry on his legacy, continuing to stand guard each midnight tour. He is never forgotten. #FidelisAdMortem

When our @NYPD73Pct brother P.O. Sharjeel Waris stood for roll call last night, he had no idea that he’d finish his tour in Brookdale Hospital. But thanks to his courage and skill, we are applauding him as he heads home to continue his recovery. Please keep P.O. Waris — and all police officers who put themselves in harm’s way every day — in your prayers.

Nearly 40 years ago, Detective Duane Dickerson joined the NYPD, following in his father’s footsteps. Known for his legendary smile and hearty laugh, he now prepares to retire and hang up his gun belt. Duane, thank you for your decades of dedicated service to this city.

Our @NYPDPSA5 brother, P.O. Randolph Holder, proudly followed the footsteps of his father and grandfather, who both served as police officers in Guyana. Ten years ago today, he made the ultimate sacrifice after he was shot and killed by a serial offender in Manhattan. Officer Holder’s legacy of service spans generations, and his impact on this city will be felt forever. A decade later, may he continue to rest in peace. #FidelisAdMortem

In the last decade, the number of Bangladeshi members in the NYPD has grown from just a few hundred to more than 2,200 dedicated public servants, and @NYPD_BAPA has made this incredible growth possible. Through their outreach, community partnerships, and mentorship of young officers, BAPA has strengthened bonds between the NYPD and the people we proudly serve. Because the same qualities that define the Bangladeshi-American community — dedication, humility, perseverance — are the very qualities that define the best of policing and public service. And nowhere was that clearer than in the life of Detective Didarul Islam. I dedicated this award to him — a proud Bangladeshi-American who represented the very best of the NYPD and our city.

Last night, I was honored to be recognized by the @NYCPDDEA, which stands behind the greatest detectives in the world. The DEA’s commitment to its members — the protections they fight for, the benefits they secure, and the voice they bring to every issue — sets a standard for what union leadership should be. This union reflects the dedication of the detectives it represents — women and men whose work has defined the reputation of this department for generations. Ten years ago, detectives cleared about 69% of murder cases. Today, that number stands at nearly 87%. That’s what experience looks like. That’s what persistence delivers. None of this would be possible without the leadership of my fellow honoree, Chief Joe Kenny, DEA President Scott Munro, and every detective whose relentless work keeps this city safe.

🚨Gun Arrest🚨 Officers addressing quality-of-life complaints ordered a group to disperse due to excessive noise and blocking pedestrian traffic. One individual became irate, refused commands, and was arrested. A loaded revolver was recovered from their waistband. Great work!
