@GovKathyHochul says she called President Trump last night and implored him to release the rest of the withheld funding for the $16 billion Gateway tunnel project. She says an additional $77 million was paid today, but the Gateway commission says it is still owed $98 million.

The Trump administration suspended federal funding of the Gateway project in October. That suspension led the development commission to halt work on the tunnel last Friday and lay off about 1,000 union workers.

Federal funding of the $16 billion Gateway rail tunnel will resume today, though some payments may not be made before Tuesday, lawyers for the Trump administration told a federal judge in Manhattan. The Gateway Development Commission said it was owed about $205 million.

@GovSherrillNJ says Trump administration indicated it had until 1 p.m. today to send the money owed to the Gateway project. She says she expects the funding to continue flowing and work on the project to resume in short order.

At rally for Gateway tunnel project funding restoration, @GovSherrillNJ says "by 1:00, we should see that money." Gateway Development Commission says the federal government owes $205 million in funds that were promised to the $16 billion project.
