Last night was the 14th time in the tracking era that Steph has shot over 70% eFG% while taking 15+ jump shots in a postseason game. No other player has more than 8.

Kawhi Leonard was worth -8.3 net points in the second half, a half they lost by 13, with 5 tovs and just 20% usage. He was worth -6.9 in a game they lost by 5, a threshold loss. Draymond held him to ZERO pts in his HC matchup in the 2nd half (GeniusIQ).

Rob Dillingham (351.8) 365. Rayan Rupert (352.8) 366. Ben Saraf (356.3) 367. Nolan Traoré (356.9) 368. Jordan Hawkins (357.9) A number of catch-all metrics from the around the internet endeavor to tell us who's playing best every year. And though many of the different adjusted plus-minuses attempt to measure the same thing (an individual player’s impact on the game when he’s on the floor), they have slightly different ways of getting there. If you want to acknowledge the most accessible ones, you could say something like… “Jayson Tatum is 3rd in Basketball Reference’s box plus/minus and 7th in wins over replacement player; 3rd in Dunks and Threes’ estimated plus-minus and 5th in estimated wins; 9th in Basketball Index's LEBRON and 31st in LEBRON WAR; 6th in ESPN's Net Points per 100 possessions and 21st in Net Points WAR; and 2nd in Basketball Reference’s game score per 100 possessions and 17th in total game score..." …but that’s quite a mouthful. For the last several seasons, I’ve been sharing something of a shorthand for the above. Instead of rattling off that list for any and all players one might want to discuss, I sort every qualified player by the average of their ranks in those stats (as well as their cumulative variants). The results give credit to each of the metrics, throw a bone to basic numbers (through the use of game score) and reward players for availability (through the addition of the cumulative marks). The lists produced by this exercise aren’t perfect, but none are. Strictly subjective rankings obviously have their own flaws. This is at least a guide. And it can give you a pretty good idea of who’s been the best (or worst) in 2025-26. If you’re looking for a specific player (like, oh say, Paolo Banchero), do the handy little “control (or command) plus F” trick on your keyboard and type in that player’s name. Oh, and one more caveat. If someone looks lower than you thought he should be (a warranted reaction to some placements), bear in mind that cumulative numbers (think points, rather than points per game) are in play. So those who've missed plenty of time are affected by that. *Shout out to Tim MacMahon for coming up with the name "Huge Nerd Index" or HNI. It's a little late in the game to do this, but I was curious to see if or how adding DARKO DPM to the mix might affect things. So, I did. Being just one-sixth of the stew didn't make much of a difference, but there's certainly an argument for getting another reputable number in there. And the real math people might hate me for mixing a predictive number in with non-predictive ones, but they've never cared for me much anyway. So, it's in!

I’m just ready to see the Orlando Magic with an offensive coach who can bring some creativity and design to the offense. Hard to evaluate the Magic’s roster for me until that. Totally possible they’re just straight up not good enough. But would like to see coaching change first.

But it's time we address my biggest issue with Mosley. He changed the offense in the 2024 off-season to run through Suggs and that made Franz's role non-existent. Then he removed pnrs from our offense (when it's our forwards initiating) and removed post ups, which only means more on ball actions for the guards. P/F definitely didn't help, but Mosley has essentially eliminated their strengths in favor of the guards and this is the result.
_Xerp_@_Xerp_

You know what. I'll take that 2nd half over what you gave me in the first Franz. I almost had to hang myself. But I'll take 12 points on 11 shots with 0 turnovers over that 1/6 start any day. Even helped us go on a run before being taken out. Too bad you and Wendell can't pay attention.

The best thing we can do as an online community of NBA fans is normalize the idea that non-title success matters. Making a Final Four is a real accomplishment. Winning 60 games is awesome no matter how the playoffs turn out. Winning 50 games is a good season. Making the second round IS playoff success. Everything that is creating problems for the quality of games that isn't the league's absolutely asinine schedule in the face of changes to play are caused by a root idea that everything short of the title is a failure.
