We already have a system of non-universal basic income. It’s called "having wealthy parents." UBI just democratizes that privilege so everyone has the same base-level security to pursue their potential. It's no coincidence that entrepreneurs tend to come from wealthy families.

Doctors are manually operating ventilators in order to keep babies alive in Cuba. The U.S. is laying siege cruelly cut off all fuel, power is out, leaving hospitals without electricity. Dialysis patients, babies in NICU, and others will die. This’s a crime against humanity.

U.S. airports are now apparently ICE dragnets. It turns out ICE didn’t bring the woman they grabbed to SFO. Instead, TSA narc’d on her by alerting ICE she was planning to fly. ICE then grabbed her at security.
It’s despicable that TSA is doing this. ICE must be abolished & TSA needs serious reform.

This is a non-space. No one feels any sense of ownership over it. Not the businesses around it, not the city, certainly not the people who only drive past it. No one will ever walk along it, and therefore no one will ever care about it.

@surajit_ghosh2 ICE hasn't been sent to SFO to assist TSA. We know this because SFO uses a private contractor for it's security and has been completely unaffected by the shutdown.

He also seems to have made zero attempt to slow down. Both drivers fault and they both get a ticket if anything

Well, at least you got to smash a BMW. The BMW was in the wrong unless the posted speed was 20 MPH. Grok says the red car was only 4- 5 car lengths from the white stop line when the video starts. On a divided roadway, probably with a 40 MPH limit. At 40 MPH, the red car would need to make an emergency stop to come to a stop behind the stop line. Besides, it wasn't a Mercedes, it was just a BMW.

@TheEXECUTlONER_ Straight has right of way until it is red. The car going straight would have made a dangerous maneuver by braking. You have to brake to hard to stop. The car behind would be at risk of hitting him.

Choosing to coast through a yellow or speeding up to make one when you could have stopped makes it your fault if an accident happens

I think it would be a really great reality tv show to take a couple dozen boomers, ideally recently retired, and give them entry level white-collar jobs in high cost of living cities and basically just saying "Go try to live."
