I just gave an 8-minute TEDx-style talk in front of a 250 person audience. I successfully "exited the matrix" and traveled for 7 years....but eventually came to one epiphany about life by the end of the journey. Here's my story:

@LoganARobison Given that you’re in the Airbnb space, I have a feeling I know which one is energy draining 😂

I’ve been thinking about this all weekend. First, I’m a Chris fan. I’m a fan of anyone who inspires people to dream big and live an extraordinary life Second, this post hit me at the exact right time. Currently, I have 2 different businesses. Both pay well and both have the potential to be big. But only one gives me energy. The other sucks energy but is the “responsible” move Drawing the line in the sand and betting on what gives me energy knowing I’ll have to give up control of the other one is scares me. Everyone wants a backup plan and a contingency. But trying to do two things simultaneously means you’ll do both poorly. Lock in on what gives you energy and pays well and you’ll never get distracted
Chris Koerner@mhp_guy

Stop trying to “lock in” and start asking yourself “am I working on the right thing?” Distraction is neither a feature nor a bug. It’s a signal. When you’re working on something… 1. You truly love and 2. Pays well …you won’t get distracted. Opportunity cost is expensive.

@MatznerJon @Fish_wid_a_V Nice, is your full GTD setup in obsidian? Curious where you storing reference files that are screenshots and photos? In Apple Notes it’s easy, but doesn’t seem as smooth with MD files to store images (unless maybe you’re doing some workaround)

Neel, you had a great dad, and so your odds of being a great dad, 100%. There is a dad shortage in the world so already you’re starting at a good place. Parenting is all an experiment. You’ll never get it exactly right. But you always strive for being the best parent possible. You are their guide to the world. It’s is a job. You manage expectations. Parenting is a job that you want to be re-hired for every year. Would your kid hire you for the “dad” job every year? Main parts of the job: 1. Love them (easy) 2. Keep them safe (hard) 3. Let them have life experiences 4. Clothe, educate, support them in finding purpose in life

Enjoy it. Father of twins here born @ 31 weeks. You’ll remember the hard days as totally worth it if you give it your all. It gets easier. Don’t buy into the “sleep as much as you can now that you can”, you can’t save up sleep. You’ll be fine. If you can afford it, look into night nurses a few nights a week. Totally worth it. Having kids can make you more productive if you do it right. I think it was @adamwathan that said having kids was the best life hack for productivity. You have limited time so you have to make the best of it. It can make you hyper focused when it counts. Happy to share more! Congratulations!

@NeelBParekh Best advice is to just keep reminding yourself that it gets slightly easier in 15 days. And again in 15 more. And again in 15 more. Seriously.

@NeelBParekh Get help from grandma from day 1. Elders want to help deeply, and they need it, and make the entire experience better. They also share profound wisdom. Congrats and enjoy the journey.

1. Manage your emotions. When my kids were screaming uncontrollably I'd put on some metal with noise cancelling headphones while holding them. Babies will be fine if they are kept warm, clean, and fed. Manage yourself 2. Find something to do. Pick a topic. I read a lot of articles on computer vision when on paternity leave with my first. Don't default to doom scrolling when rocking a baby 3. Trust your instincts. Your ancestors have succeeded at this for millions of years. You were built for this.

@NeelBParekh tbh, forgot it all. take it a day at a time. Don’t think about your mind, but support your wife’s. Same with the emotions and body. She’s going to go through waaay more, and I’m guessing she’s not asking for advice on X. ask her what she needs, not strangers for what you need.

@NeelBParekh Own diaper changing, own bottle/pump parts washing, keep her water bottle fresh and full at all times, keep snacks within reach esp if breastfeeding. If she’s up all night and you’re not, take the morning shift seriously and keep baby happy and calm on your own so she can sleep.

@NeelBParekh Oooh congrats! If your partner is in charge of keeping the baby fed, you're in charge of keeping her fed! Newborn stage can be hard but its only a few months. Don't spin out thinking this is your life now, it will be done before you know it
