For about four years I consumed everything. Books, seminars, coaches, talks. Nothing stuck.
The material wasn't bad. A lot of it was genuinely good. The problem was I had no system to plug it into. Knowledge would land, make sense, then evaporate because there was nowhere for it to go.
The turn came when my brother sent me a book on Audible. I read it and thought: this is everything. Every principle I'd been collecting for a decade, pulled into one simple framework.
That was the difference. Not more knowledge. A place to put it.
So: read with a real problem in mind. After every book, write down ONE thing you'll do differently. Keep a running list of what you want to test next quarter.
Information is cheap. Execution is the whole game.

My plan is to live to 120. And I mean that.
But sitting with that reality recently, something hit me. If I live to 120, I will watch a lot of people go. Friends. Coworkers. Maybe my kids. Maybe my significant other. People who choose not to make the same commitment.
Which means I would have to get really good at loss. At letting go. At making new friends at 90 years old.
Is that morbid? Enlightening? Scary? Honestly, I am not sure. But thinking it through did something inside of me.
This episode does not have a clean title or a tidy point. It is just an honest thought exercise that might give you exactly what you need right now.

My company is 8 people. Profitable. No outside capital. $5M revenue this year (doubled every year since 2023). I can work from home. Do school dropoff/pickup. Have a snack with my kids after school. But everyone asks how my little lifestyle business is going? So if you aren't sleeping on the office floor you're not a real entrepreneur? SMH

To each their own. IMO there any many things solved faster and with less overall time when multiple ppl can sync and have quick focus. I value the rest of the communications arsenal beyond written. Tone of voice. Body language. There is a poverty of words to describe everything that often needs to be said. Verbal language is imperfect.

This one has had a lot of airplay.
Couple thoughts: meetings aren’t the enemy. Number of people isn’t the problem.
Not having systems, accountability, focus, structure makes meetings and people useless.
Shoutout to @GinoWickman for writing traction and giving the business world a system that makes all of that work well. Buy the book traction. Take the time to read it. Implement the system. Run a wildly successful company.
Nobody runs a company where they talk on slack … once a week…. Well. It’s exciting to read. Yes A+ players are great and AI is the end of mediocracy. Don’t be mediocre. Don’t hire mediocre. That’s kinda obvious.

Every once in a while you work at a company that only hires people who know what they're doing, and suddenly its 20 people doing the same work as 400 somewhere else. There's zero meetings, everyone talks once a week on slack, and you go huh, how much garbage is there actually.
