If I was building a home gym, this is pretty much the exact order I’d purchase equipment in: (Bookmark this incase you want to refer back to it later) 1) Adjustable Dumbbells 2) Adjustable Bench 3) Smith Machine and/or Power Rack 4) Barbell if Power Rack is chosen 5) Plates 6) Cable/Pulley Station From there, you’re going to start getting into more niche pieces of equipment - Leg Extension and Seated Leg Curl would be up next - Leg Press and Hack Squat would be up after that Then, you’re really getting into niche pieces like Chest Supported T Bar Row, 45 Degree Extension, etc. At that point…it’s probably just going to come down to space/budget/training priorities
