@JonathanNefro @GlassockJ The typical creatine sold in health food stores is creatine monohydrate and does not appreciably increase serum creatinine (see above). However, creatine ethyl ester (not commonly found) can increase serum creatinine. kidney-international.org/article/S0085-…

@JonathanNefro @GlassockJ Does it matter if average increase is only 0.13 mg/dl? This is clinically insignificant and within the realm of error of repeated measurement of same sample. Body builders take creatine and can have significantly higher serum creatinine values but it is not the creatine.

@Nephro_Sparks @rmohty I have such “high” hopes for the PHOSPHATE trial, and secretly (I guess not now) hoping that high PO4 within reason is not bad. We spend so much time and money and guilt on that anion with little evidence that it is modifiable risk factor.
