Voted for change 🪷. Reached my booth at around 7:15. The queue was so long, it took around 2hrs to complete the entire process. Booth had 3 layers of security manned by BSF. No scope for any malpractices. @ECISVEEP must be applauded for free & fair poll !!

Heard from my Lingayat friends that messages are circulating in WhatsApp groups that Lingayats must register themselves are separate religion in upcoming census. Usually they are registered as Hindu-Lingayat. The messages are asking them to register religion as Lingayat alone and then their caste. Few other messages are saying Marathi ppl should not disclose any other language than Marathi in the census. I have informed the higher ups in my shākhā to pass this up the command chain. We need to educate Hindus how to register themselves as Hindus and nothing else. We need to make Hindus aware of the importance of this exercise and not sabotage their own destiny due to these petty issues. I will go one step further and will appeal Jains, Buddhists and Sikhs too - register as Hindu-Jains, Hindu-Bauddhas, Hindu-Sikhs. To Jains/Buddhists/Sikhs I say this - We Hindus understand your philosophical and sociopolitical position. But in given times it is beneficial for all of us dhārmik people to show a united front. If not played the cards correctly all of us have much to lose in next 30-50 years. Same with linguistic chauvinists - Saying you only know Marathi will hurt economic prospects of Maharashtra (applies to all language chauvinists across the country). Census data is used by various MNCs to determine which is the most “investable” state in India. When data shows large proportion of society is polyglot, it makes it more attractive for investment (in addition to many other factors like hard infrastructure etc). If you want to have language issue - I will appeal to every Hindu to say they know some Sanskrit too in addition to their mother tongue and other languages that they know. I personally fluently know Marathi, Hindi, Gujarati, English. I will add Sanskrit too this time.

Precisely the reason I am reiterating my stand again that whatever needs to be done to reach 270 mark should be done barring few exceptions. More such attempts will be made in future. Some of my mates from Bengal have concerns but please understand the political realities🙏
