Houston Methodist Hospital Neurosurgery Dr. Paul Holman and his resident, Dr. Suraj Sulhan performed MIS spine surgery (biportal laminectomy) utilizing the Apple Vision Pro and our Karl Storz system as part of our ongoing and expanding IRB. 4K imaging of the surgery with fluoroscopy and vital signs all simultaneously visible in their own virtual monitors. Innovating to provide the best patient care. @PaulJHolmanMD11 @Mhuang1986 @HMethodistMD @Apple @KARLSTORZ_USA

I really get excited about high-impact papers. This one is an instant classic. The investigators surveyed ~250 TBI survivors and ~250 TBI caregivers, an average of 12 years after the injury. They asked – what is the minimally acceptable outcome that is acceptible after severe TBI? Both survivors and care givers agreed –– recovery of yes/no communication is the basic common denominator. Being able to have any semblance of control about what happens to you. A basic human right, worth experiencing. So interesting. In my ICU end of life conversations moving forward, I am going to use "yes/no" and "following commands" in equal balance when descibing MCS/coma outcomes. Saying yes or no –– sounds a way lot better than following commands. #curingcoma @HarvardHealth @VUMCDiscoveries Perspectives of Persons With Lived Experience on Acceptable ... : Critical Care Medicine journals.lww.com/ccmjournal/abs…

🧠🔬 Neuro-dedicated intravascular OCT is emerging as a promising tool for intracranial vascular imaging. By enabling microscopic, high-resolution visualization of vessel wall pathology and therapeutic devices, it may expand our understanding of cerebrovascular disease and improve neurointerventional diagnosis and treatment strategies. 📖 Read more (open access): bit.ly/4bwlEpA @Cure4Stroke @_AdnanSiddiqui @Fie0815 @vitorpereiraca

🚨 Published! 🚨 TNK may be safer with shorter half life.. so should we reduce post-TNK ICU monitoring? 🤔 Our review finds NO high-quality evidence for lowering current standards ⚠️🛑 Safety of our #stroke pts must come first 🧠 🔗 jni.amegroups.org/article/view/1…

From our experience, MMA lidocaine/steroids work for migraine.. But how to RCT 🤔 -- subjective pt reporting -- hard to blind providers -- unwillingness of young pts to undergo DSA for sham arm ❓ Key Q: do one time or rpt like Botox every few months? jnis.bmj.com/content/18/3/6…

Took so long to understand this.. not very well explained at all. Also, multiple possible ways this could've been treated; this one illustrated is complicated but good it worked. Final result in their figure looks great
