Behold, the new leader of Oxfordshire County Council.
He outlines his transport vision at minute 5.
Spoiler alert, it involves a hurt finger.

@eastoxbusiness Kids do matter. Kids of all skins colours btw bacaise they all go to school and they all deserve safety and well-being for they are the future. In any case, pedestrian friendly neighbourhoods attract more custom.
English

@eastoxbusiness You had nought else to say anyhow. Do not mind being called. A weirdo who stands up for kids well-being. Better than being an eejit whose brain is inextricably connected to a car.
English

@NiamthC Theres a small window for when legal challenges can be made which past a long time ago for Oxfords ltn's btw. weve just been told that your a bit wierd so well call it a day with the chatting
English

@eastoxbusiness Then go and see how you get on with a legal challenge for Oxford´s LTNs (spoiler, you won’t even try). In fact, there should and there will be more LTNs because people who go about without a cars should have priority.
English

@NiamthC We werent talking abt the congestion charge. lambeth & croydon LTN cases were both won btw. tower hamlets is going to appeal. taken a while but huge uprising in cases againsts ltn's

💯 agree. 👇 Paint is not cycling infrastructure.
Below is my son weaving in and out of a “cycle lane” because cars are parked in it. @MikeyCycling
CyclingMikey the Unspeakable@MikeyCycling
Painted cycle lanes are useless. Imagine we treated child safety the same way.
English

@eastoxbusiness You literally just have to read the campaign page where the statement is clear: A KC deemed the case meritless. There was less money raised for the congestion charge challenge, it got taken to the High Court where it failed miserably.
English

@NiamthC Love, if you look you can see they didnt raise enough money to take it further or it wd hv been. youd have to be in the east ox community to now
English

@eastoxbusiness The Oxford LTN challenge was withdrawn because it would fail miserably, as did the one for the Congestion charge. oxfordclarion.uk/legal-challeng…
English

@NiamthC The Oxford LTN's were never challenged. lambeth and croydon LTN cases were both won.

@GwinnettAnne Did you get a reply?
Also, how’s the congestion charge judicial review going? Is it all set for the oral hearing? It’s better be quick before people start noticing faster buses.
English

Why is Oxford City Council still silent on whether or not the May elections will go ahead? Are they seriously considering cancelling them? I have just written to them, as Chair of the IOA, urging them to respect democracy: independentoxfordalliance.org/wp-content/upl…

Reminder that your average pre-1920s city resident did not ride a horse to accomplish daily errands
People walked to stuff. Because destinations were closer and more convenient, including in US cities.
My 1910s neighborhood (still “very walkable” by US standards) used to have many more residences and shops, which were demolished and replaced with roadways/parking lots in post-war period.
A.M. Simpson@msim2
@UrbanCourtyard @ItsLeoBitch23 you are also not taking into account that those cities were developed around horse culture. An entirely different metric.

@ReconnectingOx @OneHeadington How’s the judicial review going, btw?
You do know you have no case, but only baseless waffle, don’t you?
English

@TheOxfordMail Hi, can you check what Oxford Clarion is saying it’s true about a judge dismissing for the second time the case for a judicial review of the congestion charge brought by Open Roads for Oxford? If so, they have not updated the petition page. oxfordclarion.uk/clarion-weeken…
English

@OneHeadington @ReconnectingOx Vehicles are not funnelled. People make a choice to drive and that should not be at the expense of vulnerable road users, which LTNs address. In any case, great that bus routes are quicker. Wonderful indeed that the congestion charge is having the desired effect on bus passengers
English

@ReconnectingOx Great analysis. Worth adding that the chronic congestion at St Clements for the past 2–3 years has been directly caused by LTNs blocking all side streets between St Clements/Morrell Av & Cowley Rd which funnel thousands of extra vehicles through this pinch point every single day.
English

@ReconnectingOx Buses are moving faster overall and that´s what matters. Lots of time saved for most of the people.
English

@rtenews Donny is desperate to try to find a way out. Face of the matter is that the regime is still in place.
