This sounds cool. But wait. 400 diapers will last a family with a newborn approximately five weeks. The program will cost the state approx. $12.4 million this year alone. That money will be funneled through a company called Baby2Baby, which will then provide their branded diapers to 400 participating in hospitals (California has over 500 hospitals in total.) Meaning that instead of lowering taxes and letting families keep their own money to buy essentials like diapers, California takes their money, pumps it through a “nonprofit” that has overhead and whose CEO made $240,000 in 2024, to provide a “free” service available only in certain locations, and that you could have bought yourself for much cheaper.
FactPost@factpostnews

Gov. Gavin Newsom has announced California will be the first state in the nation to provide free diapers to newborns. Families will receive 400 diapers when discharged from the hospital.

@TolaimShelEldad It’s cute that you think newborn babies only go through two or three diapers a day. Have one and get back to me.

Again, this isn’t how odds work. If the second you add money to actually buy the market and the available odds go from -161 to -204 then there isn’t any -161. It’s astonishing that @Kalshi is allowed to straight up bait and switch users.

California taxes every corporation at the same rate every year. By offering businesses relief during tougher years, and asking other corporations to pay just a little bit more during their most successful ones, we can cut state income taxes for people making under $100,000.

And yes, I should’ve added in the ESPN+ spotty coverage in mornings. But even that is usually featured groups, Hole X, etc. I’m just honestly asking why they can’t just go full bore all day. Maybe there’s a legit reason?

Can someone explain why NBC (Golf Channel) pays hundreds of millions a year to broadcast PGA events, yet when I tune in during the week many of the biggest names have already finished their rounds? Why not just broadcast the entire thing? It’s free programming. On a GOLF channel

Seen a lot of conversation about how predatory the American medical system is. So I will weigh in. I ended up going to the ER about 2 weeks ago for crippling pain. Turned out to be a ruptured ovarian cyst. I was there for MAYBE 4 hours. My bill? $13,500 dollars. Because I'm uninsured (by choice, that shit is a SCAM), the hospital dropped my bill down to $8,100 and some change as an "uninsured" discount. For starters, $13,500 for a 4 hour hospital visit is insane as it is. But the fact the hospital can wipe $5,000 off the bill "just because" should show you how utterly fucked this system is. And to be clear - $8,000 is still an absolutely insane sum of money when all these people did was scan my stomach and give me some pain killers. On my itemized bill, my CT scan was 7k. The iodine they used was $900. Just being in the ER room alone was $2,500. We phoned the hospital to haggle. They dropped the price by $20. Normal people can't survive this shit. I do okay and $8,000 is still an INSANE chunk of money out of my savings. Anyone who argues this isn't a disgusting, predatory system is crazy. And it is even crazier that Americans accept this. And for those of you who argue this is the free market, I need you to be quiet. There can never be a true free market here when government and insurance have their creepy little fingers in this pie. People shouldn't go bankrupt trying to pay medical bills. This has to change.

For all you math geniuses like the guy who was just spouting off awful math, the fed income tax rate on someone who makes $50,000 a year is 22%. Someone grossing 50 and a portion of that in tips saves them 22% on those tips.

Did my taxes this weekend. Nothing like being middle class w/ 2 dependents, own a home, max out 401K, HSA & FSA contributions, and don't claim any deductions in my paycheck, but still owe $6K... The new Trump tax plan seems to cost me more every year.

BAD BUSINESS 🚨🚨 A client had Horschel R1 T10 +750. He’s T4 right now at -4. Next place is 7th at -3. So he’s clearly inside Top 10, no dead heat. Hard Rock Bet dead heat him, even though it doesn’t apply…their response to him? Even worse! Unbelievable! Stealing money!!

EKÙN II🐯🐅(Tiger de 2nd)
I will not send you guys DMs; I will make it public. My family has been planning this vacation for over 9 months. We paid for our suite on the cruise for a family of 5, totaling upwards of $7,000. We are supposed to arrive at the harbor by 2 p.m., with the ship sailing at 4. We booked a super-early flight that cost a little over $1,400, and I paid $240 for extra luggage. For this vacation, my wife and I cleared our calendars, with a running cost of at least $30,000 for the whole week. Last night we tried to check in but realized the flight was overbooked, and even after checking in, we weren’t assigned seat numbers. I also paid $80 for remote parking at DFW for 6 days, just for convenience. We told my wife we had to get to the airport. Our flight was at 6:30 a.m., so we left home at 3:30 a.m. and arrived before 5 a.m. The first attendant told us there weren’t enough flight attendants, so the flight was cancelled. We spoke to another one, who said it was a weather issue in Miami. What I know is that the flight went to Miami, but because it was overbooked, they randomly cancelled some passengers. What upsets me most is that my wife warned me about this airline. Also, my son is supposed to turn 9 on Wednesday, all of that is gone. Royal Caribbean did not refund our money. My children’s spring break and my son’s birthday have been ruined just because we booked with Spirit Airlines.

@ekun_II We're sorry this has been your experience. It's not what we aim for! Send us a DM, and we'd be happy to help out.
