We’ve been reviewing early community feedback around Vault Breaker, especially from players jumping in solo, and we have a tuning update in the works. When Update 1.1.5.1 goes live next week, we are adding a Solo queue to Vault Breaker. In this queue, players will deal increased critical damage to UESC while UESC will be less aggressive and less accurate than in Trios. Ideally, this will provide a slight bump to survivability as a whole. (Notably, players solo queueing into Trios with Crew Fill off will still access Vault Breaker on its original launch difficulty.) Thanks again for the feedback so far. We’ll share the full patch notes when 1.1.5.1 goes live, but keep letting us know what you're seeing out there!

@MarathonDevTeam I love Marathon but can we make the PVE more solo friendly? The casual will not truly embrace the game until that happens IMO.

I prey for all OG Destiny streamers to find a new home, I am sick an tired of their never-ending whining and crying. And please don't come to Marathon we don't need your toxic "this is not my destiny" discourse.

@PaulTassi "Destiny Next" Early Access, AKA Marathon. Good because I was sick and tired of D2. Let the old game die so we can enjoy a new and better game.

@MarathonDevTeam Solo should be the main focus of the game. COVID is long over and we aren't devs or streamers. Also the young generation are all playing Roblox, Fortnite or any F2P gatcha. Your player base are 30+ dads who growed with Halo and Destiny.

Hey everyone, we know we've been a little quiet out here - but, as we get closer to the mid-Season 2 update, we wanted to take a chance to get the ball rolling again. Later this week we'll be sharing a blog covering some of the mid-Season 2 updates, including balance changes, details on Vault Breaker, a few much-needed weapon adjustments, and details on a buff to Cradle progression. (This blog is just a preview, and we'll have the full list of patch notes the morning of July 21st.) But, in the meantime, our ear is to the ground. We want to know what you're feeling. What's on your mind?

@ReforgeGaming @TheHiddenOneAC Steam forums are blocked in China Mainland so players only have reviews to express or communicate their dissatisfaction.

Genuine question, but why do Chinese Steam reviewers seem to leave more negative reviews than players from other regions? These are just random games I picked as examples.

@TheHiddenOneAC I lived in China for many years and it's because the Steam forums are blocked in China but reviews not so reviews became their only way to be heard.

@DestinLegarie Anything that sells less than 5M copies is just a waste of time. How is this sustainable?

@DestinLegarie Nothing can generate enough revenue. You guys should already figure our that it's becoming impossible make a 3A game in the US for less than 150M$. At that price you need to sell at least 3-4M copies at full price the first month to just break even.

If Doom can't generate enough revenue for id I'm kind of worried about Halo and Gears.
John Carmack@ID_AA_Carmack

I have been trying to find something meaningful to say about the Id Software layoffs. My “Microsoft will probably be a good steward of the brand” statement isn’t aging well, and this is certainly going to dampen the mood of the founder reunion at QuakeCon next month. I’m saddened, but I can’t muster anger or outrage over it. I don’t have access to the books, but I suspect that Id Software was a marginal business from Microsoft’s perspective. I believe the reports that Minecraft revenues have been carrying several other studios. To continue being produced long term, games need to succeed, not just be beloved. Games are competing with every other option for spending your leisure time and money, and the competition is brutal. You can’t rule out the possibility that executives are idiots, but that shouldn’t be your default belief. I don’t think there is any obvious path that would have doubled the revenue from Id games. Could they have gotten more with a different pricing strategy? Could they have created more things for fans to buy? Could they have cost effectively marketed in a way that reached more players that would have loved and bought the games? Could they have changed the game designs and broadened the appeal to more players without alienating existing ones? Could they have produced the games at a lower cost, faster or cheaper? I really don’t know. The game isn’t over yet, and I hope the studio rallies through.

@DestinLegarie I don't want to know what the US would look like with unemployment rates over 15%. That's some sort of hellscape you all gonna have to figure out because jobs are not coming back.

@DestinLegarie At this point by the end 2027 the US gaming industry would have laid off 50% of their workers. It's bananas. And half of them would never find a job in the gaming industry again. At least in Europe we have unemployment compensation and universal healthcare. WTF they gonna do?

@PaulTassi @Forbes Not sure about the trend chasing part. Marathon has been in production for long enough to be trend chasing. It avoid all the mistakes of the new life service games, it plays good, it has personality, its focus and isn't riddle by egregious monetization.

@foorzeee @tuncerdeniz I believe that was made by around 200-250 devs and recently has moved to 400. I think you are right that is light on content. The development remind me of Titan and Overwatch. Similar over scope gameplay but later cut down. I hope will see much more coming soon.

@NineCol @tuncerdeniz The problem of Marathon? Look at the size of the core teams who shipped OW or Apex or Helldivers 2, they grew only after they found success. By all means Marathon is good game but imho for what it offers now, it should be made by 100-150 ppl, not 350-400.

@tuncerdeniz Yeah. The crazy thing is that the biggest problem of Marathon is that is not Destiny 3. That's it, everything else is fantastic but that alone tanks the game in the eyes of the public. Specially after announcing the end of D2. Such a shame.

@NineCol I'll give it a shot though that's not the point. The point is that if Marathon had been a huge commercial success, the layoffs wouldn't have happened. Again, some missed opportunities.

@DestinLegarie This last D2 update and Marathon itself shows for the first time in years a change of direction to a much more player focus product without the greedy monetization.

@DestinLegarie Besides that D2, while was an generation defining game, was riddled with the most egregious monetization tactics I've ever seen. So bad, that they couldn't maintain a player base or get enough new players in. That terrible mismanagement killed D2 and Bungie.
