Doug Ford's Billy Bishop expansion was shot down by the federal government, but he won't move on.
He's grabbed the Toronto Islands, Little Norway Park, and parts of Bathurst — and he won't let them go.
In Ford's head, he's the Premier of Toronto.

Exactly! So many of the people who oppose a JET runway on the islands are quite comfortable with its continue to operate for turboprop aircraft. Many of us were or are repeat users of the airport (though I've switched almost entirely to @VIARailAlerts for MTL, Ott, QC, etc).

@normsworld There is something called the "multiplier" used internally by politicians, government and media. It's understood that 1 letter can represent anywhere from 100 to 1000 other people (depending on how its sent). Many care, just not everyone will take the next step! So 87K is HUGE!!

Like most Torontonians, I am thrilled that there will not be an expansion to the BBishop runway after the many $$ spent on the waterfront to make it a happy and liveable place, drawing thousands of people to live and play there. This decision is a good and considerate one!

JP Morgan made a bad investment in BB. That's the business case.
The $8.5B in economic benefits touted by Ford & Co. for BB is pie-in-the-sky.

And here's the news: Mayor Chow and Deputy Mayor Malik will ask Council to approve a plan to make the Toronto Island ferry free for kids and seniors in August, in celebration of the victory over the island airport expansion effort.
