The Park Tunnel built 1855 so horse drawn carriages could go directly to the private hunting park for the Duke of Newcastle from Derby Road.

King’s Houses or King John’s Palace is a small ruin that sits in a remote field in the middle of Nottinghamshire & was once a great house that was home to 8 English monarchs throughout the middle ages. The openings in the centre and to the right are relict doorways.

Pleased to say that I've found a dead good publisher for the article on claims for Britain's oldest pub. Will be working on the piece in the coming months. Expect something to be out by late summer or early autumn. Thanks again to so many who contributed to the list! 😊🍺🛖🧐📚🖥️

Planning to investigate claims for the oldest pub in the British Isles. Looking for a few pointers. What I need is: 1) Name/location of pub, 2) Date claimed, 3) firm archaeological/archival evidence which positively backs the claim up. Latter is the most important. Can you help!?

Further to my rant about the Fighting Cocks not being the oldest pub in England, lots of folk messaged to ask if it was the Trip to Jerusalem instead. Unfortunately, the Trip is not even the oldest pub in Nottingham. My article on which is here: …iskeleheritage.triskelepublishing.com/mediaeval-myth…

Working on a schematic plan of the mediaeval enclosures at Greasley Castle (Notts) for our @CastleStudies funded project. Fairly certain that we have an enclosed settlement with an inner manorial curia that may pre-date the 1340s courtyard castle.
