@ThinkLicence @SaferRoadsYorks A question for those bystanders and the police I guess, but aren't pedestrians also worthy of being checked for? If SRY were a bystander would they satisfy themselves that no riders, peds were involved and then walk away I wonder - no VRUs, check, nothing to see here!

@NumbersMan3 @SaferRoadsYorks When looking at photos of cars or bigger in ditches, or partly submerged in rivers, having gone off the road, I have often wondered how quickly bystanders or the police checked for evidence of a bicycle being involved, and looked under the vehicle.

@ThinkLicence @SaferRoadsYorks I guess most people driving past that might think "I hope no one was injured or killed in that" But SRY's implication is "never mind any drivers/passengers so long as any peds, cyclists, riders were OK"

@CitizenUddin I suspect that there may be some who tell you that being hit by a bicycle is more than a mild inconvenience - unfortunately there are others who can't tell you that because the impact killed them.

@ThinkLicence @tickderpin @Dorrit2014 *Fines and costs* The fine is no more than £1000, and the rationale for the costs is in the CPS link. Looks like the fine could have been £800 or £450 - but I'm no expert in this other than knowing the maximum fine.

Not good, not good behaviour at all, overtaking the nearest motor vehicle proceeding to a pedestrian crossing, with an oncoming vehicle to add to the mix. #WWWYPD? £1200 fine?

Whilst prepping video for the police of a motorcyclist overtaking the lead vehicle at a crossing, I noticed this not so lovely event. Admire how the driver then cut the corner & ignored Highway Code H2; the cyclist did well, & cornered well. I’ll hint that the police take action.

@tickderpin @Dorrit2014 I should hate to continue to be seen as lame, perhaps a snippet of real time video might change your mind. Overtaking on crossings is forbidden in order to protect straggling peds. A cyclist has been fined £1200 for confronting oncoming vehicles like this, but not on a crossing.

@andrewbanks An indicator does not give the right to then turn across the path of another, especially a ‘vulnerable road user’. Neither is blameless in this situation, but the driver bears more responsibility. Highway Code stuff here –

@NumbersMan3 @ThinkLicence @Ryanjohnhruw @CarlLaverick You have also overstated them by declaring that it will cost £10K per pupil per year to impart university education. We started in 2006 with £3000 and are at £9250 in 2026. What hasn’t grown this rapidly are salaries, so I guess these can also go back to 1998 levels: £1000.

@ThinkLicence @UmarFKhawaja @Ryanjohnhruw @CarlLaverick I've actually overstated them by including Scotland which accounts for about 10% of student numbers - so I'll revise my £20bn to £18bn which is about £700 per household. It would be a material number to go on general taxation.

@UmarFKhawaja @Ryanjohnhruw @CarlLaverick @ThinkLicence I think Mr Burnham would have to come up with a slightly more detailed proposal if he wanted to offer university education free at the point of use. (There are 1.6m full time and 0.5m p/t UK students so at £10k and £7k that's almost £20bn on tuition)
