If I’m paying to read @TheAthleticFC articles that are behind a paywall, I think it’s disgraceful to still have to scroll through advert pop ups like you have to do for local newspaper articles.

@8019_sam @lewis_goodall So if you don’t use polls, how do you know how most ‘normal’ people feel about a subject?
English

@lewis_goodall Polls don't reflect how most 'normal' people feel about a range of subjects.
You and your ilk deal in absolutes, with little room for any type of nuance.

Seeing a great deal of what Boris Johnson has suggested in my timeline, the idea that Kirk represented mainstream opinion/common sense.
His murder is appalling. But this is nonsense.
Some of his views
-Profoundly conservative on gay rights. Didn’t believe in gay marriage. Said being gay was an “error” and compared to drug addiction.
- didn’t believe in abortion in almost any circumstances.
-called for a ban on all trans gender affirming care.
-he spread falsehoods about voter fraud, Covid and other conspiracy theories.
-suggested he opposed birth control and had very traditional views on women and how they should live their lives.
-claimed the Great Replacement Theory was UK government policy.
None of this could ever justify any violence. It is a matter of fact that his views were nowhere near mainstream. He clearly relished debate and was very influential. But in some cases, in many cases, his views were extreme.

@heyyoudvd @agraybee @Anthony__Koch You could have had an ending where Jon Snow ended up being on the Iron Throne, but chose to end the Seven Kingdoms, giving back autonomy to each Kingdom. It would have been poetic having an Aegon Targaryen create the 7 Kingdoms and Iron Throne, and an Aegon Targaryen end it.
English

Game of Thrones had a fantastic ending and I will debate anyone on that.
I sympathize with the criticism about it being a little rushed, as it could have spread those final few episodes out a little more to make them breathe a bit. But the actual writing, the character decisions, and the choice to go with Bran - was absolutely perfect.
People wanted some corny Disney ending, and when they didn’t get that, they threw a hissy fit. What they actually got was something incredibly well-written and thoughtful. But it didn’t comport with their expectations, so it became culturally cool to hate on it, even though it was excellent.
English

It's Game of Thrones and it's not really an argument. This show was a cultural juggernaut, every week the whole internet watched together, it was endlessly quoted, children were named after the characters, and no one brings it up anymore because the last season was so awful.
cinesthetic.@TheCinesthetic
What TV Show had the worst ending?

@monzo have an issue where for some reason you recognise Caffè Nero as a BP petrol station. When I reported it as missing cashback and provided evidence of the address that it isn’t a BP, it’s a Nero, the missing cashback requested has still been declined.

@ESPNFC You shouldn’t just automatically give someone a Ballon D’or for winning the Champions League. It’s for the best player in the world. If people think he is genuinely the best player in the world, then fair enough. But do people genuinely think that?
English

@Krispytreee But is it not common for people to tell others why they’re doing something? When it’s been done it’s not like it hasn’t made sense to do so.
English

@OGMCookie Abbie’s entire motivation? Multiple times now? Show starts with her gravestone. Then she tells Joel. Then Nora tells Ellie again. The game doesn’t tell us this till much later. They are handholding the entire show and it’s sad compared to the nuance of the second games writing.
English

@EthanMcNamara28 @lovelyrainbow01 @TheLastofUsNews So a whole episode dedicated to wandering round an area of Seattle just so the main character finds a bow?
English

@OGMCookie @lovelyrainbow01 @TheLastofUsNews I guess it’s not needed but ellie does find a bow from a stalker so that would be cool
English

@mitolikesmovies @BonesAndEllie What did they ‘explain out loud’?
English

@BonesAndEllie It’s written sooooo bad. Like they have to explain everything out loud. And I hate how incapable they make ellie fighting against infected.
English

@EthanMcNamara28 @lovelyrainbow01 @TheLastofUsNews Why is Hillcrest needed narratively? It’s just there as a level for a game.
English

@lovelyrainbow01 @TheLastofUsNews True they skipped like half of the game sequences up to Nora like hillcrest, shimmer death, when they get caught, finding one of Abby’s crew that Tommy killed and worst of all the part where Jesse and Ellie escape in that cool car chase scene. hopefully the flashbacks are good😔

@Caroldanversbae Was it not clear that she had broken rib injuries that had also injured her lung? Hence why she had to test how easy she could blow into that device?
English

@bil_cipher @NoChill_Casey Well, that’s because one is a game, and the other is a tv show.
English

@NoChill_Casey It’s too meandering the game basically goes right into action soon as Joel dies they’re stretching put scenes that don’t need to be stretched out

@monzo Getting feedback from people that my Monzo payment links are no longer working. All are saying it tells them their card is declined when making a payment. Is there a known issue?

@109mph @FollowEverton What would have happened if Tarkowski didn’t intercept the ball?
English

@OGMCookie @FollowEverton Diaz standing stone still and making no effort to anywhere near the ball can not reasonably or easily be interpreted as "clearly attempting to play a ball which is close"
English

@JanusPaulusG @dawhiizz The pass was clearly played to Diaz. The only reason Diaz didn’t touch it is because Tarkowski moved to intercept it before Diaz could control it.
English

@dawhiizz Diaz was behind Tarkowski he made no attempt to run towards the ball no movement whatsoever you may not like it I wouldn’t but that’s the rule fair and square
