Acting ASG and Head of @UNSOS_ Ms. Qurat-ul-Ain Sadozai today met with Somalia’s National Security Advisor, Amb. @HagiAwesAhmed, at @TheVillaSomalia in #Mogadishu. Discussions focused on the strong cooperation between both partners, UNSOS’s logistical support to the Somali Security Forces (#SSF), and resource mobilisation efforts for the SSF Trust Fund, amid ongoing operational and funding challenges. Both sides reaffirmed the importance of sustained collaboration between the Federal Government of Somalia (#FGS) and UNSOS in advancing Somalia’s security transition and strengthening national capacity for long-term peace and stability.

NSA @HagiAwesAhmed received today a high-level delegation from @CivCenter. He commended CIVIC partnership with Somali institutions & the historic adoption of the National Protection of Civilians Policy, urging continued technical collaboration as we move from policy to practice.

As he concludes his assignment in Somalia, @UN Special Representative James Swan met yesterday in Mogadishu with @ONSSomalia National Security Advisor @HagiAwesAhmed and @TheVillaSomalia’s Chief of Staff @Hakiimov for a farewell call. He expressed deep appreciation for their close cooperation and partnership throughout his tenure and reaffirmed the continued support of the United Nations for Somalia's state- and peace-building going forward.

At the @ONSSomalia today, I held a farewell meeting with Amb. James Swan, alongside the Chief of Staff of the Presidency Abdihakim Mohamed Yusuf @Hakiimov, as he concludes his current assignment in #Somalia and prepares to assume his new role leading MONUSCO in the Democratic Republic of the #Congo. We acknowledged his longstanding engagement and the role he has played during a significant period for Somalia. We wish him success in his new mandate and remain committed to constructive cooperation with international partners in support of peace, stability, and regional security.

In Dhusamareb recently, @UNTMIS_ and @ONSSomalia facilitated a 3-day workshop - led by Galmudug's State Security Office - on drafting the legal act establishing the Federal Member State's Security Committee and State Security Office. With the ultimate goal of delivering accountable and effective security to Somali communities, the workshop was aimed at strengthening oversight, policy and legal frameworks governing Galmudug’s State Security Committee and State Security Offices, in line with the country's National Security Architecture, as well as enhancing strategic-level coordination between the Federal Government of Somalia and Federal Member States.
