@l2000002 @linusgsebastian @AmazingZoltan Right. I don't think even Linus would disagree that its a regressive tax. I think his point was simply that a sales tax taxes everyone without consideration for the income level.
You're focusing on the impact of a sales tax. His unhelpful point is more on the what is being taxed

Nobody pays taxes on 100% of their income. Even if you earn $1 million/year, you still don't pay taxes on all of it, with the tax rate being 0% on everything below the personal exemption amount. This is a stunning example of basic financial illiteracy from a federal party leader.

@l2000002 @linusgsebastian @AmazingZoltan Now sales tax doesn't differ based on how much you make. Everyone just pays the certain percentage that is applied when purchasing the item, right? Because of this, one could argue it's a tax that applies to 100% of your income.
It's a flawed argument imo, but not unreasonable.

@l2000002 @linusgsebastian @AmazingZoltan Eh. I disagree with Linus's take but this is unfair. By "100% of your income", he's referring to how much of the income is taxable. NOT that 100% is taken away. After all, certain types of taxes make exemptions and such to not tax until you reach a certain threshold of income.

@r_bow1993 @linusgsebastian @AmazingZoltan In the US, there are studies to that say more than 50% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck. These people spend all their income and don't or can't save.
Now sales tax doesn't apply to all of that groups spending but...people spending 100% of income isn't that unusual.

@linusgsebastian @AmazingZoltan I strongly disagree that sales tax is a tax on 100% of your income. People don't spend 100% of their income. People with less money spend proportionally more on sales tax than people with more income. Throwing money into a high % savings isn't taxed, the interest is.

@DigestAndroid Playstation is owned by Sony, but they've maintained enough of their identity to feel like they're their own thing. This and their marketing strategies & loyal following give them the kind of leeway that Xbox just doesn't have. That's the difference I think.

This is silly. They are raising the price but I'm sure there will be plenty of sales in the next year or two. Yes, the sales will just bring it down to where it is now but you will have plenty of opportunities to get it for this cheaper price I'm guessing

If you are a heavy console gamer I recommend picking up the PS5 Pro before the price goes up on April 2! It’s a console that has gotten better as time goes on with upgrades like PSSR 2. Games like Resident Evil Requiem and Crimson Desert run much better on it and that will be even more true in the future with games like GTA6. After April 2 it’s extremely hard to recommend it cos of the crazy high price.

@lonseidman I mean... everything has an audience technically. The proper question is whether that audience is large enough or devoted enough to your show to justify the production cost. Plenty of ways monetize this if you have the right kind of audience.
