The real question is what is the desired result? Affordability? If so, we all know prices are a result of supply and demand. So an across the board wage increase just raises input price at every step and will at first increase prices and demand but wipe out many business that operate at low margins (HIGHER UNEMPLOYMENT) and therefore create less supply and less demand making the end result a new rebalancing of prices (at a higher prices point) that creates no cost of living affordability gains because people make more money but can only afford the same things they used to be able to afford (or less). The best move is to oversupply services or prouducts that are currently overvalued as first move until a price rebalancing occurs. The market itself is great at accomplishin this (if there is little or nogovernment intervention). The oversupply can occur by lower taxes and lower regulation in the lagging supply sectors to encourage private capital investment (such as new housing construction, energy generation & transportation, farming & agriculture) and once the oversupply price destruction is too far in to be profitable the rebalancing occurs naturally as business transition to other sectors that offer better results and thus supply stabalizes to real market affordability without any wage increase but the same dollar ms earned going further. If people have affordable cost for housing, food, healthcar and energy, then their disposable income goes up along with their quality of life withiut an actual wage increase. It is not rocket science if the intent to achive affordability is real but it is nearly impossible when the real intent is control over other human beings.
