Last night, I voted with my House Republican colleagues to FULLY FUND the Department of Homeland Security. This ensures Border Patrol agents, TSA officers, and federal law enforcement are paid and equipped to protect the American people. Senators must return to Washington immediately, finish the job, and get this bill to President Trump!

Senators thought it was a good idea to leave D.C. while our homeland security hangs in the balance. Their bill provides: No pay for CBP and ICE. No funding for daily enforcement operations. No support for Border Patrol. Unacceptable. House Republicans will not tolerate this.

Tonight, I voted YES to fully fund the entire Department of Homeland Security through May 22nd and end the Democrats’ radical shutdown. The Senate’s bill was unconscionable. In the dead of night, they defunded Border Patrol and ICE — including the division that fights child sex trafficking — giving Democrats everything they wanted. That weak, pathetic surrender is unacceptable. Republicans made a promise to the American people that we would secure our borders and enforce our immigration laws. House Republicans are keeping that promise by sending the Senate back a clean CR that actually funds our homeland security. Senators need to get back to Washington immediately, do their jobs, and pass this bill.

At 2AM, Leader Thune passed (by voice vote!) a DHS funding bill without ICE & CBP funding, a Plant Month resolution, and an Asbestos Awareness Week resolution. Then kicked off a 2 week recess. What about the SAVE America Act? What about ICE & CBP? Americans deserve better.

For the fourth time today, all the Democrats in the Maryland House delegation voted against funding our TSA agents, and yesterday our two senators voted against funding TSA agents. I want to thank President Trump for finally bringing the TSA crisis to an end.
