I wanted to hold my opinion on “The Odyssey” until I’d seen it. I know, weird. So, here it is: it’s grand spectacle with a fascinating moral core. It’s extraordinary. Also, the actors shouldn’t have said “Dad,” and the casting of Elliot Page is a pebble in the shoe - irritating and bothersome and unnecessary. I've seen it and it's not a bad movie per se but that is not my concern. Two things can be true at once. If they would just respect all cultures equally it wouldn't be an issue. The problem I have is that if the culture that created this amazing work could speak out about their own misgivings about this movie without being immediately labeled a racist or any of the other things I've been called for simply having an opinion about this topic, then it would be fine. But we all know what is going on here and to pretend otherwise is disingenuous at best and outright insulting at worst.
