@Hunty_4KHDR @cherrystar_ink I used sequel as a shorthand for sequential story follow-up, functionally the same thing And I would argue Berdly has already had as much of an impact in the normal route as any ME2 squad member had on the EMS meter in ME3, so unless I’m mistaken, people want more than that

@OobyZoo @cherrystar_ink That isn't how chapters work. Like even slightly, there isn't 198 harry potter books, there's seven. There aren't 7 Deltarunes there's 1. And on the whole multiple different games thing, the mass effect trilogy had minor choices that made impacts over multiple games 15 years ago

@edensMannequin Is this a safe space to ask why we think Mike is important to the story at all? It’s hard for me to envision a world where the big players behind the scenes are UT/DR’s Voldemort, a being from an ancient prophecy named the Tail of Hell, a literal demon, and… a TV production guy

@kristiliqua @euclicide Oh for sure, I’m not at all suggesting it should be easier. I just think calling it “feasibly solvable” is a little dismissive of how random and unintuitive the process is. Ch 1 egg has no real indicator of relevance for its one step, Ch 3 egg has no indicators for multiple steps

@OobyZoo @euclicide its effortful and thats the point bc its a secret . its not something you can bump into on accident , you have to actively search for it and thats the point bc Its A Secret . you find weird loose ends (like Nowhere) and investigate them

@euclicide The ball room solution is one thing, but I wouldn’t call throwing an unlocked puzzle block onto a tile unrelated to the puzzle, getting caught by a spotlight then giving two correct answers, and escaping from a Ribbick encounter via the ACT menu “feasibly solvable on your own”

ch2 is super easy. ch3 is a puzzle you could feasibly solve on your own with multiple solutions. ch4 is reasonable with the hint you get from 3. ch5 is glaringly obvious. ch1 is like multiple rooms away from the place it's hinted at being near with no pointers whatsoever

@michaelbomb_ I’m really trying to understand, but it just feels like you’re saying “my issue isn’t that your choices don’t matter, my issue is that it feels like nothing was made to feel any different if I make different choices” and that feels like a distinction without a difference

@colllrose I’d bet there’s a chance there isn’t even a final boss at all, that we kill off all the characters necessary to continue the story and just softlock ourselves in an empty world with no possible path to the usual ending

the twisted sword route will not be an ending. it's like if you opened up link to the past and gave link a sword that deleted anything it touched. the twisted sword will be used to fck up the game so badly it's basically unplayable until you bait out a fail state "final" boss.

@ddeaen It’s a totally fine melody, I just think there are so many better leitmotifs across both games and it’s also been featured waaaaaaay more often than all of them

@Niarval @itsfidy Is there info confirming that beyond his former students at QC’s Diner looking like they might be Dess’s age? Because the timeline of when Gerson died, when he started/stopped teaching, and when Dess disappeared don’t seem clear enough to say that definitively imo

@StarkyTheSald I truly believe the only reason it’s fallen out of favor is because Asriel was the big twist reveal in UT and people want something new, I don’t think it has anything to do with evidence or thematic fit

@bjack2599514338 Dess Knight taps more into the theme of escapism vs facing reality, whereas Kriselle Knight taps more into freedom vs fate The idea is that it’s a tragic consequence of trying to choose your own path: their desire to escape their fate is ultimately what destines them to it

My take on Kriselle Knight is that it is the most "themes and such" theory to come out of this fandom because I have heard no reason for why it would actually work narratively other than "dude but it'd be SOOOO COOL if the freedom route made you become the rigid prophecy guy"

I wanted to do the tier list thing too but I realized my opinions on the knight are boring

@DoodleScrib @DudeManPiggy @yumeni_kasuga Oh that’s an interesting way to look at it, Gerson acting like a mentor specifically because the Knight manifested them that way based on their memory of who he was to them. That would be a neat way to tie in a Dess connection, I like that a lot

@OobyZoo @DudeManPiggy @yumeni_kasuga My guess is that if anything comes from it, it would be made more explicit once the Knight is revealed. But also, if the Knight's fountain is able to bring back Gerson, and he acts like a mentor, then maybe that itself implies the relationship. Maybe Susie is a parallel to Dess.

@Ashtern_ @vitya_krutka @yumeni_kasuga I guess my overall point is it feels weird to have to assume so much to create an offscreen Gerson-Dess connection, but also have to assume so much to discount an onscreen Gerson-Susie connection They aren’t unreasonable assumptions at all, there are just a lot of them

@vitya_krutka @OobyZoo @yumeni_kasuga Actually I don’t remember which chapter it was. But there were NPC’s at the diner that mentioned Gerson and how they would often skip class, and the only reason they passed was cause they would bring Gerson food to maintain their grade. And they seem about Dess’s age.

@DoodleScrib @DudeManPiggy @yumeni_kasuga I guess it just feels weird to me that we have to assume a hugely consequential offscreen relationship but also simultaneously explain away an onscreen relationship of the exact same nature I don’t believe in Kriselle Knight theory, but this angle doesn’t seem like a strong case

@OobyZoo @DudeManPiggy @yumeni_kasuga We have evidence Dess and others of her age would know who Gerson is, as he was described as a teacher that Kris and their class didn't get to have as a teacher, but presumably older students would have, like Dess and Asriel. Some NPCs of that age even talk about it in QC's Diner

@DudeManPiggy @yumeni_kasuga It’s not really that the Dark World is rooted in what you want, it’s that Susie wanting to see Gerson again signals to me that she didn’t have the perception you’re describing when creating the Dark World She would see him as a teacher/mentor as much as whoever the Knight is imo

@vitya_krutka @yumeni_kasuga Also to be clear, I’m like 90% sure Dess is the Knight. This is just a point I haven’t heard brought up and I’m interested in how it came to be seen as a killshot for Kriselle Knight, because it doesn’t feel like one to me.
