NPC personalities are best when they're anchored firmly to ONE THING. Pick an animal, and have them act like that animal. Pick a character from a movie. Pick an emotion. Pick a color. Just pick one thing.

@MoseyDm All of this fits perfectly within the typical principles of OSR games/tables. Where you saw the kind of behaviour is 90s/00s 2/3rd edition where the rules got so complex and detailed there were bound to be errors and exploits, as well as big variations in character power
