The heretical Jewish sympathies of the Roman Catholic Church
'With Judaism therefore we have a relationship which we do not have with any other religion. You are our dearly beloved brothers and, in a certain way, it could be said that you are our elder brothers.'
- Pope 'St.' John Paul II, 1986 Address at the Great Synagogue of Rome

@JustinTime82313 @OrthoTexan70 That’s not the approach Sts. Cyril and Methodios took while converting the Slavs

@OrthoTexan70 Then learn it in the original language. Translations are only ever a fraction of the original. Do you want only a fraction of the truth?

@elkkiea My priest explained it like this "in Adam, all humanity is one body, so his fall is truly ours, not as personal acts, but as a shared condition of guilt and death. In Christ, that same shared humanity is raised and healed, so His righteousness becomes ours as well

@Cri1823759Cris Read his life by Bishop Possidius who was a contemporary and friend of St. Augustine. It is clear that he lived a life of asceticism and had the gift of clairvoyance.

@OrthroAug Well the Scriptures do say "Let His blood be on us and our children," not "on the pharisees and chief priests"
English

It is a teaching of the Orthodox Church that the Jewish people killed God in the flesh.
Notice it doesn't say only the Pharisees and Chief Priests, but the Jewish people.

"The Jewish people who slew the prophets of old, from envy hath now made themselves slayers of God, raising upon the Cross O Word of God, Thee Whom we exalt throughout all ages" (Canon of the Resurrection, Tone 6, Ode VIII)

@stpetermogila This is so consistently taught by our fathers and councils that saying the opposite gets to a point where it's no longer a difference of opinion and it really is just contempt for our patristic heritage.

“Some Orthodox Christians have mistakenly defended the Augustinian notion of ‘original guilt’—that is, that all men have inherited the guilt of Adam’s sin—and others, going to the opposite extreme, have denied altogether the inheritance of sinfulness of Adam. Fr. Michael rightly points out, in his balanced presentation, that from Adam we have indeed inherited our tendency towards sin, together with the death and corruption that are now part of our sinful nature, but we have not inherited the guilt of Adam’s personal sin.”

@byzantinemarine The Holy Innocents are martyrs. Not all infants who die meet the criteria for martyrdom.

Latinizers be like "yup this icon is heretical"

The Byzantine Marine@byzantinemarine
For the same reason we don’t do a funeral for non-Orthodox. This does NOT mean infants go to hell.
