@imfat Is $280 internet actually an expensive unlimited data plan with hot spot (and secretly phone installment payment)? Otherwise that number seems impossible.

@HerndonforIdaho @SeadWal Not paying income taxes they take your freedom (put you in jail). Seems worse than penalty for not paying property taxes. I don't love either tbh. Government needs money though... through consumption, inflationary printing, tariffs, income, and/or property... wish they pick one.

@SeadWal Idaho has nearly doubled state spending in ten years, growing $1.2 billion a year beyond inflation and population growth. If we rein that in, we can fund county services without a tax that can take your home. Property tax is the only tax with that power.

One family. One property. 116 years of property taxes. Her grandfather bought land in Bonner County in 1910, three years after the county was formed. It passed to her parents in the 1940s, then to her. Never sold on the open market. Same family for 116 years. Every year the county tells her what it's "worth" based on what someone else's house sold for. Every year the bill goes up. The kitchen still has her Mom's cookstove from the 1940s. Her father was a cat mechanic at the logging camps. Her mother cooked at Priest Lake. They cleared the brush by hand and built the home that's still standing today. 116 years of property taxes on land that has never been sold. When is it enough? #idpol #PropertyTax #idleg

@jesse_k_fox Everyone (about a dozen) I have been keenly aware of after leaving have not joined another church. Start drinking and some worse things... They claim contentment and happiness, but I don't see it in their countenance. I'm sure it's possible, but from my small sample size? No.

Hard question: Can someone leave the LDS Church and still find happiness… still feel like they’ve found true Christianity… still believe in a loving God… still feel like they’ve found truth? And if someone you love says yes, how do you respond? I’m interested in honest conversations and experiences.

@DieselBABE20 Depreciating asset with Apreciating extra cost. Avoid the loan and pay for car from the outset. Freedom to sell/transfer without lien. Potentially cheaper insurance. Only pay title transfer at purchase instead of twice. It isn't just this percentage vs another percentage point

Hypothetical situation. I asked this on Facebook and it was a great conversation. Say you have a car loan that still has a substantial balance on it and a number of years left to pay. 5% interest Would you take the money out of your savings to pay it off, if that means depleting your savings account by more more then half or would you continue paying your regular car loan terms, with some extra payments?

@AI_EmeraldApple Red button seem to value being seen as logical and blue buttons want to be seen as moral. (The question has no actual outcome other than appearances online). Morally, blue is easier to convince half for to press than convincing all for red. So in a way it is more logical?

My take on the Red button, blue button reframed as "potions". Picking BLUE means you are part of the "we live in a society" collectivist mindset. It assumes that enough other people will sacrifice their safety for the group's benefit. It's collective coordination, social harmony, mental framing... a utopia-like idea that is similar to communism, socialism, etc. RED is straight-up pure individualism. Secure your own survival first, no matter what the sheep does. No reliance on the strangers' kindness or altruism, and you live either way. People who pick BLUE are collectivist thinkers who fit more in the leftist thinking of creating social harmony. People who pick RED are more individualistic thinkers who are not afraid of rocking the boat. I'm picking RED because I'm not a communist, socialist, or a collectivist. I don't believe that humans are wired for long-term social harmony, and history bears this out. War and conflict are humanity's default, punctuated with short instances of peaceful harmony. RED is the only non-delusional choice. BLUE is the "safe" moral choice for moral grandstanding virtue signalers who desire to say the "right" thing at all times.

@TheLaurenChen Because choosing blue has no real ramifications in the internet question, but showing your a good person does. Red button online pushers seem to prefer being seen as a logical/smart person more than a moral one?

Reading people's justifications for pushing the blue button is actually spiking my cortisol levels If everybody pushes red - nothing happens! So why on earth would anyone press blue? It's a needless gamble, but it's being painted as the altruistic decision for some reason

@MamaCAllen Outside Utah (and nearby settled pockets) being LDS is viewed as odd or peculiar. I suspect that means it is a badge of honor or status symbol in Utah? This may be incorrect view but when I hear term, it usually is in reference to that. Pride/status regarding faith?

What is a "Utah Mormon" to you? It's a term a lot of people use, usually from outside the state, but I don't think everyone agrees on what it really means.

@luxemiaa He mistakenly thought he was in his seat amd still moves for you... that is nice behavior. And he apologized. I think you aren't fully aware of who is nice and who is rude? Take it as a learning opportunity.

When the flight attendant comes over and asks if we want beverages, I smile at her and said “Good morning, can you tell me what seat this is please?” Her: “Yours? That’s 3A” Me: “That’s what I thought. I’ll have an apple juice please?” Mr. 3B: “Oh that’s 3A? I’m sorry” Then he taps me and apologizes again. It’s too early for these entitled antics..as if I can’t read and you’re doing me a favor 🙄

Boarded my flight this morning and there’s a man in my seat. When I tell him that’s he’s in my seat, he gets up and moves for me to get to my seat. He turns to me and says “you had 3A?” And I replied “yes” Him: “well in case you book this again the aisle is 3A and that is 3B” Me: “It’s not but okay.” Him: “Yes it is.” 🧵

@HazelAppleyard All the options show an example of a 2/6 amd a 1/3, but the question had a little thing called the equal sign. C is the only correct answer. If B could even be considered correct than ALL are correct and Circle all, but just B... no way

@Pro__Trading There may be a scenario that when you don't need to live in/near the city to work, everyone will spread out to areas where land is cheap still and construction cheaper... but I doubt the migration will happen.

Land and property will always be scarce. There's nothing AI can do about that. And when you give people a universal basic income, they're going to compete for homes and those prices are gonna skyrocket. Not to mention, everyone's gonna move out of an apartment and try to buy a home. Home prices make up 44% of CPI. I don't care how efficient AI makes other sectors skyrocketing home prices are going to lead to skyrocketing inflation.
