NEWS! Our audience has helped us crowd-fund $20,000 towards RISE-26, our high Resolution Intelligence into Severe Environments mission for 2026. Thousands of man hours and over $50,000 have been invested into this by my group. We’ve worked so incredibly hard to make this all happen. I’m happy to share our data viewer. Visit map.wxeye.org and see live probes (when deployed) synced with the radiosonde carried by weather balloon as it flys. You can also click on our special soundings and go into the tracking dashboard. These update every second! We’re also building this into a scrapbook of all launches. There’s remarks and comments, video clips and pictures of each launch included on the site to better help you visualize what is actually going on. We’ve done this without huge payouts or external infrastructure….some how have pulled it off. I’m asking if you could, please share as this is an unbelievable accomplishment that largely goes unnoticed. This all runs on PWE infrastructure, which we’ve built. Kicking myself because all my cameras are at the airport in Fairbanks waiting to get loaded for tomorrow’s charter 😪 I love when we get these super red/purple arcs early in the night, the colors are very unique! Seems to only happen when we have strong CME influences.

The X8 CME has arrived several hours earlier than expected (and stronger), with a total field > 20 nT!

X8.1 CME forecast UPGRADE by NASA M2M. The CME has been reanalyzed with speed ~ 560 km/s and is more directed at Earth. Shock arrival time is predicted for Feb 4 around 21 UT +/- 7 hr. This may result in maybe G1 storming, in my opinion. NOAA SWPC has a G1 watch for Feb 5.

An outbreak of stunning fognados occurred on the outskirts of Rolling Fork, Mississippi this afternoon. I’ve never witnessed anything like this in my life 😲

A zoomed-in view of today's X1.9 flare which has launched a CME towards Earth projected to impact Monday night. Strong geomagnetic storming could occur if the CME arrives. We are still awaiting official comments from NOAA SWPC and some other agencies regarding the arrival time.
