Single crewing is a very quick way to break cops, which means a worse service to the public in the long run. Problem is, the immediate uptick of stats benefits senior leaders, who, when the inevitable crisis happens, have since moved on.

@LeggupFitness @ChrisKeighley62 @PC_Reed @GregJ1966 That's hilarious! I know PC Reed, what is job was on the force and have been one of the many recipients on the receiving end of his instruction, training and advice on the use of force,it's theory, practice and the laws around it's use. I would give up if I was you!

@k1482 @WarrenB_69 How will he face trial? Because he was successfully detained by those officers.
English

@WarrenB_69 @PC_Reed The law will deal with him , he’s known to be mentally ill and violent , he’d recently been released from a Mental Health hospital. No one supports what he did , but he will face trial .
English

@k1482 @BasicallyAnApe Please enlighten us as to what training they receive to deal with this.
English

@BasicallyAnApe @PC_Reed Police Officers are trained to deal with these situations . They aren’t trained to kick a man on the ground repeatedly in the head . Those officers were out of control.
English

@xtc_uk @CopMoustache “His arms are under his torso”… what is he holding? Would you reach in? He’s got a knife. Has he got a detonator? Perhaps you’re right. The Police could get him to sign a good behaviour contract and he’d have let go of them to sign it, promising not to do it again.
English

@CopMoustache @PC_Reed He's tasered face down .. his arms are under his torso.
It is a matter of pinning him down and restraining his arms ..
The boot to the head is unnecessary unwarranted brutality.
English

Wise words as always here from @PC_Reed and trust me if I needed advice on use of force he’d be one of the first I’d go to 🫡
PC Reed@PC_Reed
If I was a Policeman trying to stop a marauding terrorist stabbing innocents in the throat, I’d use WHATEVER force needed to neutralise him. Better to be judged after the event by 12 of my peers, than carried to church by 6 of my friends.
English

@BenGunnEx The threat was stopped. The man’s in custody and not dead or badly hurt. I think that’s the best outcome and in no way “crap”.
English

@PC_Reed I guess it’s jarring to see the violence , I know it was for me.. but I’m thankfully not in the position to have to make on the spot decisions in a high stress dangerous environment. Ultimately.. the blame lies with the man with the knife…
English

@JohnWhyte83060 I missed the “in the circumstances” part… which is very important.
English

@JohnWhyte83060 To use “such force as is reasonable to protect life”. This is based on many things, not least Section 76 CJIA… the honestly held belief of the officer.
English

@MizzyBlundStraw @kitching_adele Agreed. The question is whether there was a need to do so, and it’s only for the officer to decide at the time.
English

@ChrisKeighley62 @GregJ1966 He wasn’t incapacitated, and to shoot him would create far more cost to the court.
English

@PC_Reed @GregJ1966 He was tasered and face down the pavement
There is no defence for kicking people in the head when they have been incapacitated
None
We need armed officers trained to administer lethal force in these situations
Saves a lot of time and court costs
English

@wes366522359 @PC_Reed Those who have never had to confront extreme violence need to pipe the fuck down or sign up to a job that does and see how they'd react
English

@PC_Reed I wonder how dramatically the views of those crying foul from behind their keyboard would change, if they were in that situation, and their actions would directly impact the safety of not only themselves, but those around them.
English

@PC_Reed Quite right had a bloke stab his mum and then me in the hand with a very large pair of scissors tried many things to get them off him.. His other hand was broken and in a cast I twisted that til he screamed and let go of the scissors.... Whatever works 🤔
English

@PC_Reed 100%! The voice of trusted reason speaks. There's no case to answer here, guy was doing his job, one that very few of us would do, & doing it correctly keeping himself & others safe. Great to hear from you Phil, we miss you & the 🐴 on here. Hope you are well.
