Eight short days ago, NYTimes said Army leadership couldn’t take credit for fixing the recruiting crisis because the real driver was high unemployment caused by Trump. Now suddenly the credit belongs to the Army general Trump just fired. 🫠

@mikekatz29 as lawyers all of our data is stored on third party servers - Microsoft, Dropbox, etc. No one takes the position that the A/C privilege or work product does not attach to those communications. At a minimum the scope of this ruling will have to be limited over time.

In February, Judge Rakoff ruled in United States v. Heppner that 31 documents from a defendant's Claude convos were not protected under attorney-client privilege. The defendant used consumer Claude to research legal strategy on his own, then shared the outputs with his lawyers. The court said none of it was protected.

The epidemic of vibe lawyering is going to cause some problems. A friend recently typed the details of an employment dispute, including things he did in violation of his non-compete, into ChatGPT and asked it to draft a separation agreement. He did not talk to a lawyer first. He created a discoverable record of his own liability that lives on a third party's servers. He is very much not the only one. I wrote about why this is a real problem, and what a federal court just confirmed about it.

Last week 4 people were shot while waiting in line to get into a North Baltimore seafood restaurant. This week they've hired armed security to patrol the storefront when they're open. The intersection, Greenmount and Venable Avenue, has been an open air drug market for years so if nothing else the folks dining at the restaurant won't have to make their way through junkies to get in to dine. Related note - possession of mags over 10 rounds in Maryland is legal but transporting them in to the state is not. @Brian_Riedl What it illustrates is that we have a spending problem, not a revenue problem. No matter how much total revenues increase, the debt and deficit continue to grow. Tax cuts do not blow a hole in the budget, profligate spending does.

"We know tax cuts paid for themselves because tax revenues increased" I hear this constantly on the right, and its the wrong measure. For a tax cut to fully pay for itself, revenues must rise as fast as they would have even without the tax cut. And that's rare. More below..🧵

JD Vance is proving to be an asset for the Trump campaign through media appearances, something the Harris campaign is completely avoiding. Here are three examples post ABC debate: 1. Jon Karl tries baiting Vance by talking about Trump’s ‘mean words’ about Harris. Vance turns it around and relates it to Kamala’s proposals that make no sense. “She repeats these ridiculous platitudes where if you actually think about what she said, you realize that it doesn't make any sense.” 2. Kaitlan Collins brings up the Haitians eating animals story from Springfield. Vance flips it on the media for failing to investigate and then discusses the overall impact in Springfield from the migrants. 3. CNBC questions Vance over Trump’s economic and tariff proposals. Vance immediately calls out Apple for using slave labor and says if companies want access to American markets, they need to use American workers.

“They’re being taught that it’s important to have views, and they’re not being taught that it’s important to know what you’re talking about.” Brilliantly put.
